MY.ST

MY.ST 마이 스트 made its debut on August 12th, 2018 in Japan with the mini-album “BOY N GIRL“. They are making a comeback, this time on the Korean scene, with the title “Don’t know” from their first mini album “THE GLOW: EDEN”.
The group consists of five members: JUNTAE, MINHO, WONCHEOL, WOOJIN and KEONWOO. Some faces may seem familiar to you as MINHO was part of the group UNVS from 2016 to 2017, WONCHEOL was in A6P and he also participated in season 2 of Produce 101, while WOOJIN was in Boys24.

To start the showcase, a video is broadcasted to introduce the members.
Very quickly, the group goes on stage and performs on its title “Boy n girl“, which marked its debut 2 years ago. The dance is fluid, the voices are clear. After that, the boys take the time to present themselves with big smiles and then pose for the photographers.
They then tell about the group and their debuts: they define themselves as a group made up of tender young men who are able to present several concepts. They especially hope that they will be spotted for their dances. They also recall their debuts in Japan 2 years ago, and say they have been preparing well for their debuts in Korea to try to offer something new.
« Our group is called MY.ST, which can be short for my story, my star, my stage and many other things » – KEONWOO
During their activities in Japan, KEONWOO confesses that they were nicknamed “the cyclone group” because while they flew fourteen times to go to Japan, twelve times when they arrived there were typhoons or cyclones. For WONCHEOL, the most memorable moment was the first time he went on stage and met his fans after participating in the show Produce 101 season 2.
Regarding the album, WOOJIN, who wrote and composed most of the tracks, says he drew his inspiration from dramas (Korean series) of which he is a fan. The other members immediately fell in love with the titles and were more than eager to make their Korean debut. JUNTAE was even surprised at the versatility of the leader. WONCHEOL then shows the key point of their choreography on the title “Don’t know“. WOOJIN therefore launches a challenge to redo this movement, which they call “몰라 춤 그래 춤“.

Under the laughter of the MC, MINHO makes some imitations, followed by KEONWOO. The MV is then broadcasted while the members prepare behind the scenes. The clip plays with black, white and golden contrasts. The decor is fairly industrialized, or sometimes delicate when the members surround themselves with flowers. MY.ST come back on stage and performs their title song.
Throughout the showcase, the group remains smiling and playful, taking pleasure in joking with the journalists. JUNTAE reveals that he wants to appear in advertisements to highlight his face, which he describes as sweet. When asked again about Japan, WOOJIN expresses with sincerity that the experience gained there has allowed them to better prepare and strengthen their team spirit to perfect their Korean debuts.

As most of the members participated in survivorship programs, they admit it is sad that they no longer have contact with most of the people they met during these experiences, and WOOJIN takes the occasion to say that they were close to the boys group’s members from THE BOYZ.
About their future albums, they invite us to follow their careers carefully because throughout their comebacks, they will tell a story.
« One day, I hope to appear in the shows “I live alone” or even “Knowing Brothers” which I really like to watch. » – KEONWOO
The five boys hope to have a close relationship with their fans. They then recall their traineeship time, which lasted two years for WOOJIN and MINHO, seven years for WONCHEOL and KEONWOO, and finally five years for JUNTAE.
The leader promises he will continue to work very hard for his group and for his fans in the composition and writing of the lyrics for their future songs, hoping one day to break through. Although they are disappointed that they cannot meet their fans during this Covid-19 period, they see here an opportunity to prepare for events and train harder. They thank everyone who supports them and hope that everyone will stay healthy.
The showcase then comes to an end. Here is the video.
The album consists of a twenty-two page photobook, three photocards, and eight tracks. Here is the “tracklist”, four other songs being the instrumental versions of the titles below:
- “몰라서 그래 (Don’t know)”: The title song expresses the feelings experienced when you live without realizing it, supported by the dreamy melodies of the intro and the outro of the song. In particular, the catchy melody, captivating lyrics and composition of WOOJIN capture the band’s unique musical color.
- “나 원래 (Boy N Girl)“: Like the title song, this track expresses the sweet side of the group in a refreshing way, especially thanks to the strong lyrics and the composition, made by WOOJIN. The electric guitar, as well as the other instruments, allow to represent the emotions of the main character.

- “Fly & High“: With the combination of the sensual melody of the piano and the bass, this song tells the painful story of the members who, for the first time, see this feeling replaced by excitement.
- “거짓말 이라도“: Speaking of the pain of love, this title also expresses the breakups, and the feelings felt at that time, especially with the words “When you are really tired, you can grumble after me, swear and me to leave ”. It designates more particularly the heart of a clumsy man in his twenties.
