The famous boyband BTS of the BIG HIT ENTERTAINMENT signs this Friday, November 20th its comeback with the album “BE”, and its title track “Life goes on“.

Comprosed of RM, JIN, SUGA, J-HOPE, JIMIN, V and JUNGKOOK, the group is making his first comeback since its last album 7, released nine months ago. Meanwhile, BTS broke several world records with its summer track “Dynamite“, the first song entirely in English by the boys, reaching the top of the US Billboard music chart. For their return with BE, the members organized a press conference to answer the many questions of journalists, without the presence of SUGA, recovering from shoulder surgery.
To help international fans who wish to attend the conference live, broadcast on Youtube, an English translation is carried out by interpreters. To begin this event, the presenter recalls the success of “Dynamite“, before welcoming the six members of the bgroup on stage. Members sit at a table and greet one by one the journalists present in the room, and those watching the live on the internet. JUNGKOOK begins by presenting this new album as an album entirely produced by the group members. Indeed, he was the general manager for BE, JIN, SUGA and J-HOPE were responsible for production coordination, RM of design, V of visual and finally JIMIN was the manager of the project. The boys seek to convey a little comfort and lightness, to remember the happy moments experienced before the Covid19 takes place. Thus, they express their joy at being in front of journalists for a long time, their last conferences having been exclusively online.
Before delving behind the scenes of the album, the members look back on the time spent between the release of 7 and BE. RM states that the latter was scheduled to be released even before the digital single “Dynamite“. Usually, the preparation of an album remains secret, but for this one, being very special to the members, they wanted to share this process with their fans on the internet using live or special videos. It really made them feel like they were doing BE with the fans together. In addition, they learned how to use new devices, such as cameras, which made this process, and shooting the clip, fun for the boys.
« Making this album allowed me to reflect back on my present and myself. I hope that many people will be able to identify with our stories. » – JIN
JIMIN then takes the time to present the content of the album, as manager of its production. He was responsible for gathering the members’ opinions on BE and passing it on to the agency, on SUGA‘s recommendations, although he did not feel that he was doing much. He confides that very quickly, during the first discussions around the album, the phrase “life goes on” naturally came to mind and allowed RM to bounce back with the following concept; whatever happened outside, everyone’s life goes on. As for the title, BE, it refers to the verb “being” to have a broad meaning that allows multiple stories to be told.
V, as visual director, explains his vision of the album after JIMIN‘s comments. His wish was to have an album close to the fans and authentic. The starting point of the group was to take pictures of the members when they are relaxed and traveling together, while being as natural as possible. RM later helped him with the concept of individual rooms each representing the personality of one of the living members with ordinary lives. V was very nervous in accepting this role, but the unwavering support of the fans contributed to his success. J-HOPE supports his comments, assuring that the group wanted to show an image of young people in their twenties, not artists on stage, which is why the making of the album was very amusing for the members.
Once BE presented, the leader, RM, talks about the different songs that make up the album: “Life goes on” represents the heart of the message they wanted to convey, that life goes on despite what can happen. This title delivers a profound and sincere message that BTS wanted to deliver in its own way. “Fly to my room” is a song featuring members JIMIN, SUGA, J-HOPE and V, about the impossibility of travelling freely and how the concept of travel can change in the future, approaching this theme from a joyful rather than melancholic angle. “Blue and Grey” is an acoustic pop song about depression, represented by the colors blue and grey. “Telepathy” allows members to indulge in their inability to meet their fans because of Covid19, with a rousing disco atmosphere, the moments when members meeting their fans being the happiest for them.
“Disease” is a song about the discomfort caused by the break imposed by the virus, comparing it to a disease. The message behind it is that of hope, the hope of overcoming obstacles in difficult times to move towards a clearer future. “Stay” is a title featuring RM, JIN and JUNGKOOK that ensures that “even when we are far from each other, we will always stay together.” So it’s an optimistic title with heavy emotional burden. “Dynamite” is also part of the album, similar to the finale of a concert. In addition, a track called “Skit” is also present, reminiscent of an old custom of the group where you can hear members talking about a specific topic, in this case, when “Dynamite” was voted first in the Billboard TOP100 chart, a dream now realized for the boys.
« We have always discussed the words we want and should say for every comeback. While Dynamite is fun and energetic, Life goes on is softer and authentic, to heal.» – RM
Now focusing on the music video, speach is given to JUNGKOOK as director of the production of the MV, loving to take videos. He confides that he wanted to highlight the reality, sincerity and authenticity of the group. To do so, he asked each of the members what they wanted to put forward, trying to respect their opinions. His goal now is to learn more so that he can create a music video even better than that of “Life goes on“. JIN finally talks to provide a global vision of the album that captures the frustration and sadness of the boys, to whom other people can identify, as well as their hope to comfort those around them. BE is not only composed of sad songs, but also fun titles so that everyone can find a share of joy while the world has stopped this year because of Covid19.

The first performance of “Life goes on” is scheduled for the 23rd At the American Music Awards, the group being nominated in two categories. Finally, it is time for the membres to answer questions from the journalists in the room, as seven doors are projected behind the members, each representing access to the boys’ rooms, and more specifically leading to questions from journalists. RM looks back at the special process of making the album, having chosen to share all the steps with the fans, because the group could not come to meet them, which it considers to be the secret recipe of a restaurant. V was able to realize that he had a certain talent in creating this album, one of his greatest prides, but, Jin rebounding on his words, the members are aiming and wanting to be nominated for Grammys Awards.
«We hope that this album will be a source of comfort to many people and we would be grateful if you can identify with it. » – JIMIN
These on these last words as the press conference ends, BTS thanking all those present on site, and online, for their attention. They say once again that BE is a very valuable album for them, and hope that it can heal the wounds of those who need it.
