Today at 2 pm the MV for the single “Life goes on” from BTS‘s new album called “BE” is finally unveiled. The clip confronts the viewer with the harsh reality of this period of pandemic and nostalgia for days gone by.

Since the beginning of the year, members of BTS, RM, JIN, SUGA, J-HOPE, JIMIN, V and JUNGKOOK have sought, by any means possible, to change the minds of their audiences. Thus, during the first confinements and government restrictions on a global scale, the group set up moments of exchange through lives of manual activities, radio episodes, storytelling for listeners or even the creation and implementation of games in which everyone could participate, alone or with others.
Then this period spread over time and gave the group a lot of free time. Their world tour was, by obligation, canceled followed by physical participation in the ceremonies which could no longer take place. So, in order to take advantage of the almost total absence of activities and in order to continue to forge a bond with the fans despite the impossibility of meeting them, the idea of creating an album from scratch and sharing the creation process and production of an album through lives germât.
And this idea came to fruition on November 20th with the official release of the album “BE” for which each member had their role to play.

Over time, members transmitted different information through lives so that the ARMY, name of the fandom of BTS, could follow the progress of creation. The theme of the album, the number of tracks, the units, the style of the photoshoot or the roles assigned to each were decided during these so-called lives.
All creation, from its birth to its finalization, depended only on the pandemic and the frustration of not being able to interact with others. It’s not surprising then that the song “Life goes on” and its music video is filled with nostalgia.
The first scene on which the MV opens is JUNGKOOK, singer and youngest member, who gazes at the horizon through the picture window of his room, reflecting the sadness and the desire to tread the streets of the city, felt which is amplified when he puts his hand on the glass.
It is no coincidence that the opening of the clip illustrates the confinement that almost all of us have experienced given that the central theme of it is indeed confinement. Thus, several scenes such as the scenes of the group in the living room in front of the television or in their bedroom, that of JUNGKOOK described and commented on above or the scene of RM who wipes the saddle of his bicycle in order to remove the dust. illustrate the confinement and allow viewers to identify and feel the emotions staged in the clip.
The melancholy of better days is also present in the MV, transmitted in particular by black and white scenes or by the sequence of images in sepia, all these scenes were filmed outdoors unlike the present days which are all inside an apartment.
The most striking passages remain those where BTS refers to its lack and its desire to be able to go on stage again in front of an audience. This urge was often conveyed during interviews or during lives, so much so that they, by mutual agreement, forbade the word “concert” in their conversation. However, this feeling common to the group was illustrated by a close-up of the Seoul stadium where they usually do their concerts and then by a sample of the music sung in their stage costumes, armed with their personal microphones and surrounded by empty seats, only occupied by lit ARMY BOMBs (group lightstick). Thus, while showing this desire to be able to perform again, BTS also testifies to the course of current performances, either online and without a physical audience coming to encourage them.

The title music is called “Life goes on” and is alternative hip-hop sounding music. The lyrics, melancholy, testify to a certain sadness and the feelings that each one could have felt during the confinements, which allows all the more to identify with each verse.
This choice, to illustrate the government restrictions in these dark times, in the title song strengthens the bonds with the public in order to offer a simple message, but full of truths, that despite the distance, we all live the same way lately, we feel the same emotions, the same feelings, we live the same obstacles but these common difficulties allow us to help and support each other during these events.

“Life goes on” will be performed on stage with “Dynamite” on Sunday November 22nd at the American Music Awards, an American awards ceremony.
