EUNSEOK, a member of the group RIIZE, has issued an apology for using a derogatory expression toward Black people.

On May 6, EUNSEOK expressed his regrets via the fan communication platform, Bubble:
« Yesterday, while sending photos from my childhood, I used an incorrect expression. I apologize to everyone who may have felt uncomfortable due to my lack of thought and inappropriate choice of words. »
He continued: « Although I realized my mistake and deleted the message immediately yesterday, my heart has been heavy thinking about the people who may have already been hurt, which is why I am sending you this message again. In the future, I will reflect and act with more caution. I sincerely apologize, » thus bowing again in a sign of regret.
Previously, on May 5, on the occasion of Children’s Day, EUNSEOK had posted a photo of himself as a child accompanied by the word “Kkam-dung-i” (깜둥이). However, as this expression is recognized as a derogatory term for people with dark skin, EUNSEOK realized it right after sending and deleted the message instantly.
On the other hand, RIIZE, the group to which EUNSEOK belongs, will make its comeback on June 15 with its second mini-album.
