SANGYEON : Happy birthday to THE BOYZ’s leader

On November 4, we are celebrating LEE SANGYEON‘s birthday from boy group THE BOYZ.

SANGYEON is known to be a singer, dancer and leader from THE BOYZ. He loves writing songs, singing and he does great impersonations from old Korean dramas and movies. He is also known to be really unlucky in a daily basis. When he has to pick something or play rock paper scissors, he is most of the time the loser. With co-member JACOB, he takes care of the other members as the two oldest ones. SANGYEON is not really a leader as we know in most k-pop groups, but is more like the oldest guy in a group of friends. They are all like members of a big family, really close to each other, and they enjoy being close to their fans thanks to many videos, posts on social medias to show their daily life.

SANGYEON was casted as he was passing by his school entrance. A casting director saw him and went to give him a business card. Then he was able to be a trainee in Cre.ker Entertainment. Before his debuts, he was in Melody’s Day “You seem busy” MV and Ailee “If You” MV.

SANGYEON alongside his co-members, participated in a reality show entitled “Flower Snack” just before debuting in order to gain popularity and reveal each of the members. THE BOYZ debuted on December 6, 2017 with title-song “Boy”. After that, the group made many comebacks without rest and showed a bright, cute and cool side with synchronized choreographies. It was during title-song “No Air”‘s promotions that the members gained more confidence during their filming and on stage. The group changed its style to become more mature with more intense choreographies and it attracted people’s attention. This title-song was really popular and the group gained many fans who worked hard to bring the group’s first win in a music show during the next comeback with “Bloom Bloom”.

2020 was really THE BOYZ‘s year. Indeed, the members all worked hard to become even better and show to many people their unique teamwork and perfect performances. First, thanks to a first album and title-song “REVEAL”, the group tried a new concept which was mystical and seductive. This suited SANGYEON a lot because it is said that he is the one with the best body and this song helped him showing a more fierce side along his great vocal skills.

Because THE BOYZ tried to show new sides of themselves, the group’s agency started a new project entitled “GENERATION Z”. In May 2020, several short individual videos were released to introduce each of the members. They were all able to talk freely about themselves and answer questions in order to be better known as humans and as normal young men. In the video under, you can discover different sides of SANGYEON, as a kind man who is also mature and has a bright smile.

Between March and June 2020, SANGYEON participated with his co-members to the reality show “Road to Kingdom” in which seven boy groups had to prepare performances in order to show the best stages and be the winner. THE BOYZ showed the best performances during most of the episodes thanks to a perfect teamwork and was also compared to a professional dance team. On June 12, THE BOYZ released a new song “CHECKMATE” to perform during the show’s last episode. Once again, the members were able to show an impressive stage that shocked many people. They won with an impressive score and also won a spot for the next reality show entitled “Kingdom”. During “Road to Kingdom”, SANGYEON appeared as a reliable and mature member who was also one of the main vocals of the team. He also showed a great stage presence which attracted people’s attention as during “REVEAL (Catching Fire)”‘s performance that you can see under.

Then, THE BOYZ made a comeback which was as impressive as “Road to Kingdom” performances. It was a huge success since the group won many victories at music shows and also participated in the end of the year award shows. The group prepared several performances which were impressive, but the most incredible one was for the 2020 MAMA. Indeed, the eleven members did a performance on the theme of kings dressed as Greek gods and showed an perfect choreography with elements that reminded of “Road to Kingdom”. It was like an even better version of the show with the use of fire and many more acrobatics. The aim of this unbelievable performance was to introduce the group as one of the teams for the upcoming show “Kingdom: Legendary War” in which THE BOYZ ended up at the 2nd place out of six teams in early 2021.

THE BOYZ came back in 2021 with a bright and cool song which was perfect for summer, entitled “THRILL RIDE” being one more time a success. That is why it was a huge surprise for the fans when THE BOYZ came back with a dark and intense song, “MAVERICK”, released in November 1st. Indeed, the eleven members prepared a powerful song, with an intense choreography and an MV in which each member had to play a role as they were all partipating in a mortal game with only a final winner. For these two comebacks, SANGYEON was able to show his great voice that can be also really sweet. THE BOYZ‘s fans liked SANGYEON‘s parts in title-song “MAVERICK” and his acting skills in the song’s MV since his character made a plan to trap two opponents, creating an epic fight !
