It’s Cube Entertainment.
We would like to express our official position on the controversy surrounding the title “Sun,” a song from MBC’s survival “TEENAGE GIRLS,” involving (G)I-DLE’s SOYEON.
First of all, we apologize for confusing many people when the song “Sun” was released.
Immediately after the broadcast, we became aware of the similarities of certain parts of the melody through monitoring, and the artist spoke directly to the composer about the situation and apologized.
In the process, we decided that the credit review should be taken for granted as long as we recognize the similarity to the song, so SOYEON consulted with the composer and requested a credit review through the production company. An hour before the release, the composer’s agency objected to the added credit and requested a re-edit through the production company, but unfortunately this did not happen.
Once again, we apologize for this event in the credits in a situation where no specific consultation was made with the composer’s agency, and I will prevent this from happening in the future.
