KINGDOM - Performance Ascension
It is with a fourth mini-album that the group KINGDOM makes its comeback today.
Group of GF ENTERTAINMENT, it is composed of seven members: DANN, ARTHUR, MUJIN, LOUIS, IVAN, JAHAN and CHIWOO. The concept of this album is the fight of kings to protect the world in which they live. To represent this image of king that the group has cultivated since its debuts, the members are all dressed in Hanbok with royal embroidery representing dragons and phoenixes.
This album is oriented around the story of King DANN, with each album focusing on a member and the king he plays. The press showcase begins with the broadcast of the clip, KINGDOM being immersed in the Joseon period, and the song, “Ascension” having many Korean sounds. The song finished, the clip does not stop however since we discover a teaser telling us who will be the next king whose story will be quoted. LOUIS therefore seems to be at the center of the group’s future comeback.

Initially, the comeback was to be held earlier, but two of the members who contracted covid had to be placed in quarantine, delaying the comeback and the start of the group’s promotional activities until today. Once the clip is released, we find KINGDOM on stage to perform “Ascension” for the first time, the dance incorporating many allusions to Korean culture such as the Seungmu, sleeve dance. Regarding the album, it is composed of seven tracks; “Palace”, “Ascension”, “Blinder”, “Illusion”, “Appetite”, “Promise” as well as the instrumental version of the title song. During the preparation of this comeback, the members of the group claim to have trained hard, and to have lost weight in order to get back in shape.
Their previous comeback, with the title “Black crown“, had found its place in the international charts such as Billboard. The group hopes to be able to enter the charts again and show the beauty of South Korea and its culture to the world. IVAN considers DANN to be the best representative of this comeback, having supposedly outdone himself for this one. CHIWOO supports IVAN’s choice, but would also like to thank the stylists for creating such beautiful traditional outfits. Discussing the choreography and kinetics surrounding the performance of “Ascension”, JAHAN states that the group’s intention is to represent the scene of a movie, while incorporating traditional Korean dances as mentioned above. The group therefore hopes with all their hearts that this comeback will please fans, especially foreigners.
To end the comeback in style, the group changes into more modern outfits, and performs the song “Promise”, a ballad rich in emotions. The members thank the journalists present at the showcase after this performance, and affirm their desire for success by continuing to work hard to achieve their goals.
