As the group is celebrating its 10 years anniversary since debuts, EXO has a huge discography touching all kinds of genres. Constantly evolving through their comebacks, EXO made during their 10-years long career some amazing b-sides, which even though aren’t the title songs are definitely worth checking.
Here is our selection of our 10 best EXO B-sides:
#1 “Baby Don’t Cry“
Song from their first album “XOXO”, “Baby Don’t Cry” is the typical kind of song that carries so much melancholy that it will make you cry. Between piano, rap and amazing vocals this 9-year-old song is still one of EXO’s most iconic.
#2 Artificial Love
When EXO’s full album “EX’ACT” came out with two idiomatic title tracks “Lucky One” and “Monster”, many might have missed the sexy electronic throb “Artificial Love”. This song could have been promoted alongside the two title tracks given how well it fits EXO.
#3 El Dorado
This whole song is carrying a glorious and magnificent feeling with strong drum beats and harmonies. Members are delivering their lines with power and Baekhyun’s high notes are subliming this set. A must-have in your playlist.
#4 Playboy
This jazz sonorities song creates a delicate and seductive atmosphere regaling our ears. Written by the late SHINee’s JONGHYUN this song is actual proof of his musical genius.
#5 Fall
Choosing only one b-side from EXO’s winter album “Universe” has been a real challenge! All the songs from this album could be put in this list, from the vocal-line-only “Lights Out” to the moody “Stay”. But “Fall” stand out by its arrangement. Starting with some light guitar acoustics the song grows deeper and more powerful in the chorus making you want to sing along.
#6 The Eve
Like “Artificial Love”, this track can be categorized in the “EXO’s sexiest song” list. “The Eve” gained so much popularity thanks to its smooth and sexy dance practice published on EXO’s YouTube channel. The video has received over 130M becoming EXO’s most popular dance practice video.
#7 Oasis
So many things happening in this urban pop song! For a slow tempo song, “Oasis” still manages to have a dynamic and agitated atmosphere thanks to the use of strings. Overall the song gives a relaxing feeling and has been chosen by D.O as one of his favs.
#8 The First Snow
This warming song is a must for your Christmas playlist. Coming from EXO’s first winter album “Miracles in December” this song still tops the charts every year when the first snow falls in Korea.
#9 Gravity
From one of their recent album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo”, ‘Gravity’ is a funky track giving disco electro feelings. Produced by LDN Noise, this energetic song highlights EXO powerful voices but also CHANYEOL and SEHUN rap. An all-rounder!
#10 What if Love
Not sure if this song falls into the b-side category as it was released as a pre-debut song in 2012, but “What is Love” doesn’t have any flaws. This R&B smooth ballad focuses on the singer’s layered voices rather than on the music: D.O’s emotional voice and BAEKHYUN‘s high notes, almost acapella, are giving the listener goosebump throughout the whole song.
