ATEEZ: A birthday on stage for HONGJOONG!

This November 7, we celebrate the birthday of ATEEZ’s rapper, songwriter, and leader: HONGJOONG. A birthday celebrated during the concert at the Honda Center in Anaheim in the United States!

HONGJOONG made an impression even before his debut on the survival show MIXNINE in 2017, arriving 42nd in the final ranking. The following year, HONGJOONG and the other group’s members (SEONGHWA, YUNHO, YEOSANG, SAN, MINGI, WOOYOUNG, JONGHO) flew to the United States as KQ FELLAZ to complete their training. It’s in Los Angeles that HONGJOONG composed and wrote their pre-debut title « FROM », a title which appeared in the tracklist of « THE FELLOWSHIP: BREAK THE WALL » world tour.

Thereby, HONGJOONG debuted in ATEEZ on October 24, 2018, with « Treasure » and « Pirate king (« 해적왕 ») ». The group has distinguished itself by its concept and iconic choreographies, which continue to intensify through the years, drawing strong attention around the world. Indeed, after gathering over 180,000 fans for « THE FELLOWSHIP: BEGINNING OF THE END » world tour, ATEEZ won « Best Performer » and « Artist of the Year » at « The Fact Music Awards 2022 ».

Through the various comebacks of the group, HONGJOONG, nicknamed Captain by the other group’s members, revealed several talents to ATINYs (fandom’s name). In addition to his skills in singing and rapping, the leader of ATEEZ composes and writes most of the group’s songs alongside MINGI, such as « Thank u » and « All about you ». HONGJOONG is also known to make an impact with his intense charisma and powerful expressions transmitted on stage.

Moreover, ATEEZ captain shares many of his passions with ATINYs, especially his love for photography. HONGJOONG often shares, through the group’s official SNS, his pictures taken during the world tour and his daily life. A passion that gave birth to an exhibition, « FROM NOVEMBER 7, 1998 ». In addition, HONGJOONG shares his support for various causes close to his heart. Thus, we can often see him with nail polish on one finger in support of the « Polished Man campaign », or making a donation after his exhibition to support children who wish to pursue music but cannot afford it.

Finally, just like the other members of ATEEZ, HONGJOONG has a program on the group’s YouTube channel. Named « BY. HONGJOONG », his content focuses on the reinterpretation of various famous songs, arranged and rewritten by himself. Indeed, some of them, like « Space oddity » by DAVID BOWIE, « Black or white » by MICHAEL JACKSON, or more recently, « Lemon tree » by FOOL’S GARDEN, have exceeded one million views on YouTube. Moreover, LINKIN PARK‘s cover of « Numb » surpassed two million views on YouTube and received eulogistic reviews from original songwriter MIKE SHINODA.
