Group SEVENTEEN won its first award at the 2022 MTV EMA.
SEVENTEEN won two gold medals in the categories “Best New” and “Best Push” at the 2022 MTV European Music Awards (2022 MTV EMA)” held at the PSD Bank Dome in Dusseldorf, Germany on November 13 ( local hour).
The “Best New” category, won by SEVENTEEN, is one of the categories that has been maintained in a major category since 1994, when the EMA were created. In the “Best Push” category, the artist awarded is the one with the best performance among the artists selected for the MTV Push campaign during the past year.
SEVENTEEN, who won the “Best New” category, said in a video, “It’s been a meaningful year for us. We’ve resumed touring and met various people around the world with new music, and it’s going to be a unforgettable year with this award. We are very grateful to EMA and the CARATS (fans of the group) who are always by our side“.
After winning the “Best Push” category, SEVENTEEN said, “It’s a great honor to be the first K-pop artist to be selected for MTV PUSH and to be able to be with you tonight. We are really happy to to think our ‘MTV PUSH performance’ touched many people. We can’t be there (because we’re on tour), but we’d like to thank everyone who made it possible.”
SEVENTEEN was nominated for the first time in a total of three categories: “Best K-Pop”, “Best New” and “Best Push” at the awards ceremony, followed by two wins, proving its global popularity.
SEVENTEEN will hold “SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [BE THE SUN] – JAPAN” at Kyocera Dome Osaka from November 19 to 20, Tokyo Dome from November 26 to 27, and Bantein Dome Nagoya from December 3 to 4. Before and after the show, “SEVENTEEN BE THE SUN THE CITY”, an urban concert park where various events are held throughout the city, will take place.
