Rappers RAVI (30, Kim Wonsik) and NAFLA (31, Choi Seok Bae), suspected of bribery in military service, received suspended sentences and one-year prison sentences, respectively, in the first trial.

Judge Kim Jung Ki of the Seoul Southern District Court sentenced RAVI, who stood trial for violating the Military Service Law, to one year in prison, suspended for two years probation and ordered 120 hours of community service. NAFLA was sentenced to one year in prison.
The court said, “RAVI has a very poor crime of delaying his duty due to epilepsy by carefully planning this,” adding, “We have taken into account that he is an offender elementary school with no history of punishment and that he deeply repents of his mistakes.“
Regarding the reason for NAFLA’s conviction, he explained, “NAFLA worked as a social worker and planned it carefully and but with sending threatening text messages to a Seocho-gu official, the crime is more important.“
Previously, RAVI was charged without detention last month for attempting to exempt himself from military service (violation of the military service law and obstruction of military service) by posing as an epileptic patient in collaboration with the co- CEO of his agency, Groovl1n, and a broker.
RAVI and the co-CEO ignored the doctor’s advice that they had no particular symptoms of epilepsy and tried to get rid of them by asking them to prescribe medication.
At his first hearing in April, prosecutors requested two years in prison for RAVI and two and a half years for NAFLA. RAVI later admitted the charges, issued an apology, and withdrew from the group VIXX.
