AOORA: Collaboration between India and Korea

Singer-songwriter AOORA has launched a surprise collaboration with Indian hip-hop musician Yo Yo Honeyh Singh.

AOORA released a collaboration video of “KALAASTAR” with Yo Yo Honey Singh on his Instagram on December 7. In the video, AOORA and Yo Yo Honey Singh, each from Korea and India, sing “KALAASTAR” in Punjabi (Indo-European language) and Korean, attracting the attention of fans around the world with a collaboration that transcends regions, languages and cultures.

Yo Yo Honey Singh is a prominent Indian hip-hop musician who has toured India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and many cities in the Middle East, and participated in music of Bollywood. “KALAASTAR” was released by Yo Yo Honey Singh 10 years ago and ranked No. 1 on YouTube music, and AOORA provided a different enjoyment by translating the lyrics into Korean.

The surprise meeting between the two sparked an explosive reaction, with over 4 million views in 16 hours of its release. AOORA, who is currently touring India, has not met Yo Yo Honey Singh, who is on tour, in person, but has created consensus by talking about music through various means such as video calls.

Fans around the world mainly reacted to the meeting between Korean and Indian musicians, saying, “I want to experience the works of the two with official sound sources such as features and duets“, and fans in Korea and in India are awaiting a formal meeting between the two.

AOORA is active as a representative Hallyu artist who connects K-pop and Indian music with producer FRIDAYYY and released a new song “In Da Bus” in November.
