2023 is coming to an end, let’s look back at this busy year for the group.
GREATGUYS is a male kpop group consisting of 8 members : HORYEONG, HANEUL, DAUN, DONGHWI, DONGIN, HWALCHAN, UIYEON and BAEKGYEOL. The group debuted in August 2017 under DNA ENTERTAINEMENT. Although the group started with 9 members, it now performs with 8 after the departure of their leader, JAEI in August 2022.
The most important points of this year are two comebacks, the first on June 18 with the album : “RECORD OF YOUTH EP.1 DESTINY”, an album in pastel pink colors and a title song, “Luv luv luv”, very colorful and romantic. This comeback is also DONGHWI‘s first comeback after returning from the army.
The second comeback is much more recent cause he was the 6th of November with the album : “RECORD OF YOUTH EP.2 DEEPLY”, a much funkier album and displaying a more mature image, as showing by the title song : “Deep in love”. Following this comeback, the group should have gone to America to perform a 5-date tour across the continent, a tour which was unfortunately canceled at the last moment.
This tour still enabled the group to offer an online fan meeting via Zoom application, and the members appearance in some South American media. Although this will not actually replace the tour, GREATGUYS did an online concert accessible to all. This online concert seems to have delighted the fans present during its broadcast.
2023 is also marked by some collaborations for the group. Indeed, members will be chosen, for the beginning of the year, for being face of the mask brand V Secret Guard and during the summer as those of the Thai cosmetics brand USTAR ZIGNATURE.
During this trip in Thailand GREATGUYS will be invited to the ASIA TOP AWARD 2023 ceremony, to receive the RISING STAR BOY BAND prize. Members will also have the opportunity to pose for Thai magazine KAZZ. It is during the month of July that the GRACEs (name of the fandom) will have the pleasure of seeing the photos on the group’s official Twitter.
In Japan, the group was able to participate for the first time in KCON which was held in Tokyo from May 12 to 14, 2023. GREATGUYS was able to show off several of its songs there, including the last two “Luv luv luv” and “Only you“. This moment was also an opportunity for the group and the members to meet new fans but also other artists.
This whole year has been held by many concerts in Japan, in Osaka and Tokyo, but also several fanmeetings, both in Japan and in South Korea. Even today, after a short month of promotion in South Korea, members are back in Japan for the end of the year to promote their latest comeback.
Although this year saw the cancellation of one of the group’s biggest projects, the American tour, it was marked by many achievements. UIYEON sums up this year as “a very happy year” despite the tour cancellation and his sadness for international fans.
