NEW JEANS
Two global icons, NEW JEANS and Murakami Takashi, announce an unprecedented collaboration.

NEW JEANS (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) released a teaser for its music video “Right now” on its YouTube channel. “Right now” is one of the tracks from her first Japanese single, “SUPERNATURAL”, which will be released on June 21.
The teaser begins with the characters “New Jeans X Power Puff Girl” introduced during the last album “Get up“. In search of a love potion, the five members discover “Rainbow Flower” and use their superpowers. In the process, the two worlds collide due to an unknown error, and the “New Jeans X Murakami” characters appear. The characters, which were created by meeting the charm of NEW JEANS and Takashi Murakami’s iconic “Rainbow Flower”, left a strong impact even if they were briefly reflected at the end of the teaser.
Takashi Murakami, Japan’s most beloved contemporary artist and pop artist, collaborates with global pop stars such as Billie Eilish as well as fashion brands using his unique, brilliant artwork and iconic floral persona.
Many expectations are already high for the ever-evolving combination of NEW JEANS and Murakami Takashi, who broke the standardized framework of Kpop and presented new standards. In particular, the meaning is even more different since Takashi Murakami, who revealed in interviews that he is a fan of NEW JEANS, participates in NEW JEANS‘ first album in Japan.
The members of NEW JEANS have previously proven themselves to be major icons of popular culture through collaborations targeting the tastes of Generation Z around the world, for example the famous American animated film “PowerPuff Girl“, then with this collaboration with Takashi Murakami.

NEW JEANS‘ first Japanese single, “SUPERNATURAL“, will feature a total of four songs, including the title track of the same name, “Supernatural”, the song “Right now” and the instrumental of each song. As this is the first Japanese album, special attention is being paid to how it will differ from the Korean albums presented by NEW JEANS so far. In light of the performance of “Right now” in the teaser released that day, NEW JEANS‘ unique sophisticated sensibility is expected to endure. Pre-orders for the album will begin on May 10 at 11 a.m. KST.
NEW JEANS will return to Korea on May 24 before debuting in Japan in June. The music video for “Bubble gum“, a track from the double single “HOW SWEET“, was released on the 27th of last month and received positive reviews for its refreshing video beauty, with over 17.84 million views on YouTube (as of 10 a.m. this May 1).
