The group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, Dokyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino) once again showed its status as a “recording powerhouse”.
According to the first half of the Circle Chart 2024 released on July 12, SEVENTEEN’s “Best Album” “17 IS RIGHT HERE” topped the album chart.
SEVENTEEN sold over 3.08 million copies of the album alone, creating the only “Triple million seller” in the first half. The album sold more than 3.5 million copies including Weverse (38th) and Kit (48th).
SEVENTEEN’s new special unit JEONGHAN X WONWOO‘s debut single “THIS MAN” also showed good performance. The album ranked 20th and 43rd respectively. The cumulative sales volume is close to 790,000. This figure is unusual given that it was a single album and the total duration was short since its release on April 17.
Not only the new album, but also Gubo, released before 2024, appeared in several charts. “FACE THE SUN“, the fourth full album released in 2022, sold more than 200,000 copies and ranked 47th on the album chart in the first half of the year. Eight of the top 100 albums, including the 9th mini-album “ATTACCA” (ranked 67th) and the 11th mini-album “SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN” (ranked 71st), are ranked in this top.
With its 10th mini album “FML”, SEVENTEEN topped the annual K-pop albums chart. Its 11th mini album, released the same year, recorded the highest initial sales in K-pop history (the number of albums sold in a week immediately after its release). Last year alone, SEVENTEEN’s cumulative album sales exceeded 16 million copies.
As the new album is expected to be released in the second half of the year, expectations are growing as to whether SEVENTEEN will become the “10 million artist” this year after last year.
SEVENTEEN placed seven songs, including the title song “Maestro”, on the global K-pop chart in the first half of 2024. Four SEVENTEEN songs entered the digital chart, and eight and four songs respectively were ranked as downloads and streaming in the chart charts.
