The group BOYNEXTDOOR has announced its comeback in style with a trailer film.
BOYNEXTDOOR (Jaehyun, Sungho, Riwoo, Taesan, Leehan, and Woonhak) released a trailer film for its third mini album “19.99” on its label Hybe’s YouTube channel on August 13 at 10 p.m. KST. The video, titled “Mysterious 20,” introduces the album’s theme and title, “19.99.”
BOYNEXTDOOR members describe the hottest time of their lives just before turning 20 with incomplete digits of 19.99. Their new album contains authentic thoughts and concerns from their youth, which is on the border between adolescence and twenties. The trailer film compares the keyword “Twenty” to an unknown world where you don’t know what’s going to happen.
The video begins with the delivery of the world’s only “Super Laptop” to 19-year-old WOONHAK. This “Super Laptop” is a mysterious portable device that reveals all secrets when the countdown on the screen reaches 20. When WOONHAK manipulates the device, the countdown to 20 begins and all 19-year-olds around the world gather to take it. The members and WOONHAK desperately run away to protect the “Super Laptop” and when it seems like everything is over, the video ends with the numbers on the screen reading “19:99:99“.
In fact, the trailer chose the youngest, WOONHAK, who is about to turn 20, as the main character of “Super Laptop” to increase the level of immersion. The members expressed their complex feelings about turning 20 with facial expressions that were mixed with fear and hope. In addition, retro accessories that stimulate the Y2K sensibility, vintage color screens, and beats that emphasize emotions are combined to create a trendy atmosphere.
BOYNEXTDOOR’s new album “19.99,” which is making a comeback after about five months, will be released at 6 p.m. KST on September 9.
