HYBE x Geffen Records international girl group KATSEYE has announced on social media that they have received a trainee offer.
KATSEYE (Daniella, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and YoonChae) held a press conference at Hybe headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of September 11 and announced their thoughts on their debut and their plans for a tour in Asia.
Among the 120,000 applicants, six multinational members, DANIELA (American), LARA (Indian-American), MANON (Swiss), MEGAN (Singaporean-American), SOPHIA (Filipina), and YOONCHAE (Korean), made their U.S. debut on June 28. Since then, they have demonstrated their exceptional musical abilities on the festival stage, including appearances on ABC’s popular TV show “Good Morning America.”
As a group created by producers representing Korea and the United States and based on the “K-pop methodology” presented by Hybe, they receive favorable reviews for their high-quality music, singing skills, relaxed stage manners that are not that of beginners, and overwhelming performances.
Hybe and Geffen Records also revealed how they had dreamed of creating idols. “I didn’t see a global group in the entertainment industry, but I thought that was what everyone wanted. When we exchanged via DM, I thought, ‘I have to do it.'”
KATSEYE’s recently released debut EP album “SIS (Soft Is Strong)” has entered the US Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks, and “Touch,” one of the double-title tracks, is rising on Spotify’s “Daily Top Song Global” chart. The addictive melody and spot-on choreography of “Touch” are also gaining popularity on short-form platforms.
Recently, a mash-up version of Touch x Gee, which combines “Touch” and Girls’ Generation’s hit “Gee,” also appeared, igniting their popularity. YOONCHAE said, “It’s such an honor. I’m happy to do a mash-up challenge because it’s a legendary girl group and an amazing song,” and added, “I was thrilled that Sooyoung mentioned us on social media and congratulated us.”
KATSEYE will be touring Asia for about two weeks. After Korea, they will be heading to the Philippines and Japan to appear on various shows.
