On November 14th DAYCHILD made their comeback with the single album “CRESCENT”. After a week, it’s time to take stock of this first comeback.
“CRESCENT” is a single album featuring 2 songs, “Stunning” and “Play me”. The group composed of 4 members : INTAE, SIWOO, K and EDEN describes this new album as an album focusing on the expression of deeper and darker feelings, notably through more pronounced hip-hop rhythms, but also musical rhythms maximizing the emotional side of the songs.
“The title song “Stunning” is about the temptation of dangerous love, “Play me” depicts the passion that lasts all night.” This two songs “describe the psychology of being drawn to dangerous love.”
This comeback was the occasion for DAYCHILD to perform on the Music Bank stage for the first time. In an interview with Yonhap news, EDEN, who had never experienced this kind of stage before, described it as “an experience that mixed excitement and nervousness.” He added
“Everything was unfamiliar, including making eye contact with fans and looking at the camera, but I also had high expectations of being able to make my name known to the world. Right after finishing my first stage, I felt a sense of pride that I had done it.”
The group, which debuted only 6 months ago with the album “ILLUMINATION,” has already expanded its scope of activities by holding several performances in Japan, in Tokyo and Osaka this summer. The group states that thanks to these events, every day is like a gift. Also in the interview with Yonhap news, K states :
“The dream of becoming an idol is like an unwrapped gift to me. I will move forward with curiosity and excitement because I don’t know what will come out of it.”
In addition to the Music bank and concerts in Japan, DAYCHILD organized a fanmeeting for their comeback in the presence of about 50 fans. This event allowed the group to present their two titles “Stunning” and “Play me”,but also to show the result of their hard work over the last few months. DAYCHILD presents itself as a group with a wide vocal range and whose members are not confined to a single role, all trying to master rap and singing. The members declare that they still have a lot to show and that they want to be a group that will be active for a long time by taking advantage of its strengths. On this subject, SIWOO, leader of the group, declares :
“When the second opportunity to debut came, I wasn’t sure if I could continue in this profession, but I gained confidence thanks to the members. I wanted to show a different side of myself, so I tried rapping for the first time.”
Two days after their comeback, the group surprised their fans by offering a contest to find an official name for DAYCHILD‘s fans. The process gives free rein to the imagination of the fans and the name will be decided by the group among the different proposals. The members have been seen live several times since this comeback, celebrating the release of “CRESCENT”, but also to celebrate the 200 days of the group.
In addition, after this first week of promotion, the members will be present this weekend for another fan meeting followed by a fan call, allowing their fans, even international ones, to congratulate them themselves.
Finally, several photos from the filming of the MV for “Stunning” have been revealed, as well as a video, allowing us to enjoy a little behind the scenes of this comeback.
Despite their timid beginnings, DAYCHILD has been able to leverage their strengths and ability to diversify, in order to attract an even wider audience with their new single album “CRESCENT”. INTAE sums up this idea very well in the interview given to the Korean media :
“We’ve only been active for six months, so we’re still trying to build chemistry with the members,” and “Our goal is to show the public a good side of ourselves while continuing on with the ‘long run.”
