JAY B held a press showcase for the release of his first solo studio album “Archive 1: [Road Runner]” at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Seoul at 4 p.m. KST on November 27. JAY B, who performed a double-title track, said,
“I chose a passionate and performance-oriented song that I’ve shown you so far and a sexy song because I wanted to open up the possibility of more performances in the future.” – JAY B
“Archive 1: [Road Runner]” is JAY B‘s first comeback and first full-length solo album in 12 years since his debut since he was discharged from the military on November 1. The excitement for JAY B to return to his first love with feelings of anticipation and reunion and to start over through encounters with his mature self is written in the album.
The double tracks “Crash” and “Cloud nine” show JAY B‘s present and future direction. “I chose “Crash” because I wanted to properly show R&B music. It’s a sexy song unlike the previous ones. I tried to bring out the dreamlike feeling of floating on clouds” – JAY B
As he mentioned, “Crash” is a song where JAY B‘s energetic performance can be seen. It contains his state of mind of running and following on his own path. Another title track, “Cloud nine“, is based on the rhythm and charm of R&B music, describing a sensual and intimate atmosphere, expressing happiness as if floating on clouds.
“What suddenly came to mind during my military service was that I was really grateful to the fans who were waiting and how I could express my gratitude more. Watching the other members’ performances made me feel excited, but I thought that I should make more music that fans want to hear while making the music that I want to make.” – JAY B
““Cloud nine” is a song prepared to show calmer and sexier feelings than the funky and fun ones I’ve shown before. I want to show more of the R&B genres that I love so much, it’s a turning point.” he said.
Since it’s been a long time since I met fans, I paid a lot of attention to my visuals. “I gained weight during my service and lost about 14 kilos for this comeback. It’s the lightest weight of my solo career. I exercised a lot and I think I lost a lot. I prepared the visuals because I wanted to be light rather than hardworking,” he said.
The album contains a total of 13 songs written and composed by JAY B, including the double-title songs “Crash” and “Cloud nine“, “Baby”, “If you“, “Make me right“, “Chose”, “Inside”, and finally “Present” and “Winter night“, which can only be heard in physical albums.
Including this, a total of 11 songs with various styles and emotions will lead to an organic plot in the novel “우리”. The last two tracks, “Present” and “Winter night“, which are only included in the physical album, contain love for fans. JAY B has completed an album that seems warm and stable by melting his experiences and sincerity.
“I try my best to be different as a solo artist. I think my strength is that I can decorate the stage in a fun way, and I think my fans will be able to see me do my best. JAY B is releasing his first solo studio album “Archive 1: [Road Runner]” at 6 p.m. KST on November 27 and will communicate with fans by holding a fan showcase on the same day. The artist will hold an exclusive 2024-2025 concert at KBS Arena in Gangseo-gu, Seoul on December 7. It will then continue at IMPACT Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on January 11-12 next year.
