V’s solo song “Love me again” sold 500,000 copies in the United States, earning it RIAA Gold certification.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awards certifications by dividing them into gold (over 500,000 units), platinum (over 1 million units), multi-platinum (over 2 million units), and diamond (over 10 million units), based on sales of digital singles and albums in the United States. The aggregation of units is done by weighting album sales (actual/digital), digital downloads, audio and video streaming.
Chart data announced on the 18th that “Love me again” has sold 500,000 copies in the United States. The original soundtrack of the drama “Itaewon Class”, “Sweet night” has also been certified RIAA Gold, and two of V‘s solo songs have been certified.
V‘s first solo album “Love me again” was joined by Spotify’s “Billions Club” on December 14 last year, surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify, the world’s largest streaming platform.
American pop music media outlet “Consequence of Sound” cited “Love me again” as “the most newsworthy single” in the 2023 K-pop Yearbook, and said it was “a song that balanced pop and R&B sound and showed off a rich baritone” as the reason for the selection.
The music video for “Love me again” became the first K-pop artist to top the UK’s “Tidal Top Video” chart, in addition to dominating “Itunes Music Video”, “Apple Music Video K-Pop”, and “YouTube Music Video”.
The album “LAYOVER”, which includes “Love me again”, is the first K-pop solo album to have over 100 million streams on Spotify. In the United States, all tracks from an Asian solo album sold over 100,000 copies for the first time.
British music magazine NME said of “LAYOVER”: “V‘s debut album is an appealing result that has undergone a tough vetting process, making artistic rather than commercial choices. The classic sound and modern modulation stand out,” adding: “It’s been a long wait, but it’s worth it.”
