As YG Entertainment’s upcoming 4-member girl group project, “YG NEXT MONSTER”, continues to generate major buzz among global music fans, the second trainee, CHANYA, who hails from Thailand, has now been unveiled.
On June 16, YG Entertainment released a video titled “YG NEXT MONSTER | CHANYA – ‘the grudge’” on its official blog. Just like the first member, EVELLI (이벨리), this was a performance filmed during a monthly evaluation, presented with no special stage effects or visuals, focusing solely on live vocal ability, making it especially impactful.
Despite being only 14 years old, CHANYA impressed with her powerful vocals and emotional depth. Her soulful, soft, and rich tone blended beautifully with the melody, immediately resonating with listeners. Her expressive eyes and emotionally charged facial expressions held the audience’s attention from start to finish.
During the high note section, CHANYA unleashed her pent-up energy with such intensity that it gave viewers chills. Yang Hyun Suk, YG’s executive producer, even remarked emotionally, “I almost cried,” highlighting the emotional weight of her performance.
YG Entertainment has confirmed that the new girl group will consist of four members, and continues its “YG NEXT MONSTER” project by gradually revealing each one. Following EVELLI, CHANYA has made a strong impression with her exceptional talent, fueling even greater anticipation for what is being called a legendary rookie group.
This excitement is backed by numbers: EVELLI’s rap performance video has already surpassed 19 million views on YouTube, and her dance performance has exceeded 7 million. Together, the pre-debut content has garnered over 26 million views, and the enthusiastic response to CHANYA only adds to the growing hype.
At the end of CHANYA’s video, YG Entertainment also announced that the remaining two members will be revealed toward the end of the year. According to the agency, this is part of executive producer Yang Hyun Suk’s strategy to focus on BLACKPINK’s upcoming comeback, as well as the upcoming promotions for BABYMONSTER’s new singles, starting with “HOT SAUCE”, scheduled for release on July 1st.
