SHINEE - TAEMIN
SHINee member TAEMIN has issued a public apology for comments he made regarding the recent earthquake in Japan.

On July 6, TAEMIN shared a written apology in both Korean and Japanese on his social media, beginning with:
“I want to sincerely apologize for my careless remarks about the earthquake, which I made in an effort to reassure fans who were worried.”
He continued:
“I’ve reflected on the fact that I didn’t fully consider the situation of those in the area or the seriousness of a natural disaster. I was very worried myself, and I’m relieved that there was no significant damage.”
TAEMIN added:
“From now on, I’ll be more thoughtful and careful with my words.”
This apology follows an incident during “Show! Music Core in Japan”, a concert organized by MBC and held on July 5 at the Belluna Dome in Japan.

After the concert, TAEMIN joined fellow SHINee member MINHO for a live broadcast. During the stream, TAEMIN made light-hearted comments about recent earthquakes in Japan, saying:
“Wasn’t there some kind of prediction? But honestly, it’s really safe here, so there’s no need to worry too much.”
When MINHO asked, “Who was worried?” TAEMIN replied:
“Me. I was thinking, ‘What if it starts shaking while I’m singing?’ I imagined it because I’m very sensitive. Like during ‘IDEA,’ when the intensity builds… it would feel like everything’s shaking in 3D!” he said, laughing.
Some fans found his remarks to be inappropriate or dismissive, especially given the anxiety surrounding recent seismic activity in the region.
TAEMIN is also scheduled to begin his “2025 Taemin Arena Tour” in Japan this September, with 11 concerts planned across five cities: Kanagawa, Saga, Shizuoka, Chiba, and Hyogo.
Full Translation of TAEMIN’s Apology Letter:
“Hello, this is Taemin.
I sincerely apologize for my careless remarks about the earthquake, which I made in an effort to reassure fans who were concerned.
I’ve taken time to reflect on how I spoke too lightly, without fully considering the circumstances of those affected or the seriousness of a natural disaster.
I was very worried as well, and I’m relieved that it passed without major damage.
Moving forward, I’ll strive to be someone who thinks and speaks more thoughtfully.
Thank you.“
