Trot’s young prodigy PARK SUNG ON releases a new album today, July 13.
His third single, titled “왕자님의 꿈 (The prince’s dream)”, will be available on July 13 at 6 PM KST on major online music platforms.
This marks his first release in about nine months, since “직진이야” was released last October. The new single highlights PARK SUNG ON’s growing musical maturity and a fresh emotional depth.
The album includes four tracks, two of which are instrumental versions. The title track, “왕자님의 꿈,” is a lighthearted yet touching song about the bright, ambitious dreams of childhood and the journey taken to chase them. The lyrics tell the story of a child known for his eccentric personality who called himself a “prince.” As he walks through life, he encounters a mix of reality and hope. This narrative is woven into an upbeat melody that delivers a playful but heartfelt message of encouragement.
The song was composed by Choi Kang San, known for hits like “안동역에서” by Jinseong. It’s arranged in a unique semi-modern trot style, blending fast-tempo folk instruments with EDM sounds for a refreshing fusion.
The repetitive melodic lines of the gayageum, daegeum, and electric guitar, paired with layered background vocals, harmonize with PARK SUNG ON’s clear and captivating voice, resulting in a cross-generational song that resonates with both youthful and mature emotions.
Another standout track from the album is “나도 알아요 (I know too),” written by hit lyricist Park Jin Bok, who has worked with Lim Young-woong, Park Seo-jin, and Miss Kim, alongside Moon Seon Su. The song, told from the perspective of a teenager, expresses a sincere and moving tribute to a parent’s unconditional love, a love often fully understood only with time. It offers deep emotional resonance for listeners.
PARK SUNG ON first rose to prominence after winning the Song Ga-in episode of “Hidden Singer 7,” and later taking the Champion of Champions title. He then placed in the Top 7 on “Mister Trot 2,” gaining popularity with performances of “사공,” “살리고,” and “직진이야.” His diverse musical style has earned him a wide and dedicated fan base.
