SEVENTEEN’s JOSHUA has reinterpreted the hit track “Love is gone” (Acoustic) by American duo SLANDER.

The new version, titled “Love is gone (with JOSHUA of SEVENTEEN)”, was released on July 25 at 1 PM KST. The song calmly and emotionally conveys the feelings of someone who has lost love. JOSHUA’s gentle voice, combined with his delicate emotional delivery and a minimal arrangement, creates a deeply moving atmosphere.
This collaboration came to life thanks to SLANDER, who are self-proclaimed fans of SEVENTEEN and frequent listeners of the group’s music. They reportedly reached out to JOSHUA, believing that his version of “Love is gone” would resonate deeply with many listeners.
The original acoustic version of “Love is gone”, released in November 2019, was performed by American singer-songwriter Dylan Matthew. The song gained popularity through word of mouth online and continues to be well-loved. It has amassed nearly 600 million streams on Spotify and over 280 million views on YouTube.
SLANDER shared:
“We’re thrilled to release this new version with JOSHUA of SEVENTEEN. He stayed true to the emotion of the original while bringing a fresh vocal melody and tone that breathe new life into the song. We hope that everyone who enjoyed the original will give ‘Love is Gone (with JOSHUA of SEVENTEEN)’ a listen.”
JOSHUA commented: “I’m happy and grateful to be able to sing a song I’ve loved for a long time. I’ll continue to work hard to express my unique musical color through a variety of styles.”
As a member of SEVENTEEN’s vocal team, JOSHUA has stood out with his soft tone and solid vocal technique, leading to multiple international collaborations. He was featured on “17” (feat. Joshua and DK of SEVENTEEN) by acclaimed American singer-songwriter Pink Sweat$, and also took part in the revival album by legendary boy band New Kids On The Block, further solidifying his global presence in the music scene.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will kick off its new world tour “SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_]” on September 13–14 at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. The tour title blends the word “NEW” with an underscore “_” to represent the group’s new beginnings and the endless possibilities they aim to explore.
