MONSTA X - KIHYUN
Known as the “vocalist you can trust,” KIHYUN of MONSTA X brings a refreshing touch to screens with his radiant voice.
The song “SURF”, performed by KIHYUN for the original soundtrack of SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama The Winning Try (OST Part.1 “Kihyun (MONSTA X) – SURF”), was released on July 25 through major music platforms.
“The winning try” is a coming-of-age sports comedy-drama that follows the unpredictable journey of an eccentric coach, Joo Garam (played by Yoon Kye-sang), and the struggling rugby team at Hanyang High School as they aim for the national championship title.
As the first track from the “The winning try” soundtrack, “SURF” is a rock number that highlights KIHYUN’s bright and clear vocals. The song draws a parallel between the bold rush of youth charging toward the world and the feeling of riding summer waves. With driving guitar riffs and cool synthesizer sounds, KIHYUN’s pure yet powerful voice delivers a thrilling sensation, like racing across the open sea.
Since debuting in 2015 as the main vocalist of MONSTA X, KIHYUN has won the hearts of many music fans with his explosive vocal power and versatility across genres, earning him the nickname “God of K-pop.” In 2022, he launched his solo career with the single “VOYAGER” and his first mini-album “YOUTH”, establishing himself as a solo artist through performances on various festival stages.
After completing his military service this past February, KIHYUN swiftly returned to the spotlight, performing at major domestic festivals such as “SOMEDAY PLEROMA 2025“ and “PEAK FESTIVAL 2025“, where he reaffirmed his unmatched stage presence. At the recent MONSTA X full-group concert “2025 MONSTA X CONNECT X”, he impressed fans once again with his flawless live vocals throughout a series of demanding performances.
