Singer NAM WOO HYUN is making a comeback with a new record, ready to bring refreshing energy to the summer.
On July 30, NAM WOO HYUN released his fifth mini-album titled “TREE RING.”
The term “TREE RING“ refers to the growth rings of a tree, which reveal its age and maturity. The title symbolizes not only the musical growth and maturity NAM WOO HYUN has achieved, like a tree, but also represents a promise to continue growing musically and drawing closer to his fans, much like a ring, one of his symbolic motifs.
The title track, “Only 직진“, is a rock and roll song driven by fierce guitar riffs and powerful drum beats. It portrays the pure and passionate race toward love. Its message, choosing to move forward in only one direction, toward a single person, delivers both fiery and refreshing energy, perfect for hot summer days.
In addition to the lead single, the album includes tracks like “3분의 시간 뒤에는 돌아가야 해 (I have to leave in 3 minutes)”, “널 만나고 (Since I met you)”, “조용히 내가 안아줄게요 (Let me hold you gently)”, “가혹해요 (It’s cruel)”, and the instrumental version of “Only 직진“. Each song showcases NAM WOO HYUN’s unique vocal tone and his strengthened vocal performance.
Having participated in writing and composing every track on the album, NAM WOO HYUN demonstrates deeper musicality and emotional expression, highlighting his impressive artistic growth. He introduces his new album “TREE RING“ through a brief Q&A.

Q. How do you feel about making a comeback with your new album “TREE RING”?
A. I’m incredibly thankful and happy to be able to communicate with my fans through music. These moments are very precious to me.
Q. Can you tell us about the title track, “Only 직진”?
A. “Only 직진” is a rock and roll track that captures the pure and passionate sprint toward love, carried by bold guitar riffs and an energetic drum beat.
Q. What’s the highlight of the song? When would be a good time to listen to it?
A. It’s a great song to listen to while working out, jogging, or driving on a hot summer day. If you have someone you like, singing this song to them might make them happy!
Q. You composed every track on “TREE RING”. What kind of message did you want to convey?
A. I hope this album brings comfort and healing to everyone who listens to it.
Q. Is there a particular song on the album you’re especially attached to? Why?
A. It changes every day, that’s what makes it special. At this moment, I feel especially connected to the emotion in “널 만나고.”
Q. In your concept photos, you showed a wide range of styles, from playful boyish charm to captivating charisma. Which outfit did you like best, and why?
A. I really liked the outfit with the shirt and tie. It gave off a mischievous vibe and highlighted my youthful side.
Q. Do you have any memorable stories or moments from preparing the album, songwriting, recording, photo shoots, or filming the music video?
A. Every moment is vivid in my memory. While filming the music video, it was 37°C (about 99°F), so hot you could hardly breathe. It was tough, but I’m proud of what we accomplished despite the heat.
Q. What kind of reactions do you hope to receive with “TREE RING”? Is there a nickname or goal you’d like to achieve?
A. I’d love for people to say, “He’s someone who can make his own music.”
Q. You’re about to hold a solo concert titled “Arbor Day 5 – TREE HIGH SCHOOL.” Any small spoilers you can share?
A. There will be dancing, rock, ballads… a bit of everything!
Q. Lastly, do you have a message for INSPIRITs (longtime fans) and new fans who’ve been waiting for your return?
A. I sincerely thank all the fans who waited for this album. I exist because of you, and so does my music. Thank you for allowing me to create good songs. I love you all. Please enjoy listening!
