YUGYEOM will be enlisting in the army this year.
On August 23, YUGYEOM shared a heartfelt letter to his fans to announce his enlistment: his military training will start on September 29, 2025 and he will be joining the military band (AOMG) where he will probably find CHA EUN WOO (ASTRO) and JAE HYUN (NCT) who enlisted earlier this year.
In his letter, YUGYEOM promises to take care of himself and asks his fans, Ahgases, to stay healthy and to wait for him patiently by listening to his music.
“Whether it is a full moon, a crescent moon or a half moon, when the moon is up, please think of me. And if you miss me, pleas listen to my music while you wait for me. ” [added translation]
Although it is sad news for the fans, they have been expecting it. Previously, YUGYEOM released an album entitled “INTERLUNAR” foreshadowing his departure as he wrote on the album cover: “Just interlunar, not the end“. Many idols born the same year (1997) have also joined the mandatory military service earlier and some of them have already returned, like JEON JUNGKOOK (BTS).
YUGYEOM will be the third member of GOT7 to join the army after JAY B and JINYOUNG who have now resumed their artistic activities. It is also expected for YOUNGJAE to be going soon, although no official announcement as been made yet. As for the other three members, MARK, JACKSON and BAMBAM who are foreigners, fans won’t have to worry to see them go.
In any case, fans can be reassured for YUGYEOM as he shared in the same letter his wish to keep making music when he comes back. GOT7 members also expressed their determination to pursue group activities as long as possible, even if they have to wait for all the members to complete their military service.
