Producer LEE SOO-MAN of A2O Entertainment presented the direction of K-POP in the AI era.

On September 22, LEE SOO-MAN gave an inaugural speech at the “26th International Society for Music Information Retrieval Conference (ISMIR 2025)” held at KAIST, Daejeon, on the theme “Culture Technology (CT) in the AI Era.” He explained: “CT has been systematized through four stages: casting, training, music production, and marketing,” reflecting on the K-POP production process from H.O.T. to AESPA.
He emphasized that Korea must establish itself as a “country of producers,” citing examples such as Park Jin Young, Teddy, director Bong Joonho, and football coach Park Hang Seo. He added: “AI will always depend on human creativity” and “technology will become a tool to amplify creativity and connect humanity.”
LEE SOO-MAN also showcased examples of CT experiments, such as 3D music videos by GIRL’S GENERATION and SUPER JUNIOR, the holographic concert “V Concert,” the musical “School of Oz,” as well as augmented reality and AI content. More recently, he unveiled the interactive chatbot “Blooming Talk,” the participatory production platform “A2O Zone·Channel,” and announced his project “A2O School” aimed at training young creators.
In particular, using filming and editing technology based on “Gaussian Splatting,” called “Infinite Studio,” he presented a video of the global girl group A2O MAY. This technology had won the “Best in Show” award at the SIGGRAPH conference in Canada last August.
Regarding the essence of CT evolving with AI, LEE SOO-MAN stated: “Since AI depends on human prompts, the more it advances, the more human creativity will shine. CT will amplify this creativity, move global culture, and touch people’s hearts.” He continued: “The music and entertainment industry must, through science and culture, unite humanity and break barriers.”
