The song “Spring day (봄날)“ by BTS has been ranked 37th among “The 250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century” by the American music magazine Rolling Stone, drawing significant attention.

On October 8 (local time), Rolling Stone published its list titled “The 250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century So Far” on its official website. Among the Korean songs included, “Spring day“ achieved the highest position, ranking 37th, once again confirming the group’s unparalleled influence.
Rolling Stone praised the song, stating:
“‘Spring day’ is one of BTS’s signature songs, from one of the greatest pop groups of the 21st century. The emotions of healing and hope that arise from loss carry a transcendent resonance and marked the beginning of their global rise. ‘Spring day’ also illustrates the strong unity present in their music.”
Released in February 2017, the song serves as the title track of the repackaged album “YOU NEVER WALK ALONE”, the group’s second studio album. On the Korean streaming platform Melon, it became the first song in history to surpass one billion cumulative streams. Since its release, it has remained on the platform’s daily chart for over seven years and eleven months, setting an unprecedented record for longevity. The album containing the track also ranked 61st on the Billboard 200 chart (dated March 4, 2017), where it stayed for two consecutive weeks.
Blending Brit-rock sensibilities with electronic elements in an alternative hip-hop style, “Spring day“ features lyrics written by RM and SUGA, inspired by their personal experiences. The song delivers a message of hope and patience while waiting to reunite with a lost friend. RM also participated in composing the main melody. Its lyrical tune and poetic lyrics continue to resonate deeply with listeners, maintaining its enduring success through the years.
Meanwhile, BTS is preparing for a grand return scheduled for spring 2026. The group plans to release a new album next year, accompanied by a large-scale world tour, marking the full reunion of the “21st-century pop icons.”
