The BUNNIES fandom of the group NEWJEANS released a statement expressing its dissatisfaction toward HYBE following the termination of DANIELLE’s contract.
In a statement released on December 29, BUNNIES said: “Although HYBE and ADOR were informed that all members of NEWJEANS wished to return together, they notified the termination of the contract to only one member. This is an act of violence aimed at unilaterally dismantling NEWJEANS in its complete five-member lineup, and a deception toward the court, the involved parties, and the fans.”
They continued: “The court recognized the validity of the exclusive contract based on mutual trust, yet as soon as all NEWJEANS members expressed their intention to return, ADOR suddenly changed its stance and notified the termination to only one member, deliberately attempting to divide the group,” adding angrily: “Did ADOR CEO Lee Do Kyung appeal to the court to bring NEWJEANS back only to tear them apart afterward?”
BUNNIES also stated: “Deciding to dismantle the full lineup of the agency’s only group, which has driven the company’s profits thanks to its strong IP value, cannot be explained by ordinary business logic,” adding: “This is a malicious abuse of power by HYBE, the majority shareholder and real decision-maker of ADOR, as well as Bang Si Hyuk.”
They continued: “Dissolving NEWJEANS in its complete lineup despite strong opposition from fans and against the will of the members devalues the group, tramples on its artistic freedom, and breaks its wings. NEWJEANS is the result of the memories and bond built together by its five members and fans. Free NEWJEANS and guarantee the members’ freedom.”
Earlier that day, ADOR released an official statement regarding the return of NEWJEANS members. HANNI decided to return to ADOR, MINJI is currently in discussions, while DANIELLE was notified of the termination of her exclusive contract.
ADOR explained: “HANNI came to Korea with her family and held long, in-depth discussions with ADOR. This process allowed her to reflect on past events and examine the situation objectively. Following sincere discussions, HANNI decided to respect the court’s decision and continue with ADOR. MINJI is also in discussions with ADOR, and exchanges are ongoing to broaden mutual understanding.”
Regarding DANIELLE, ADOR stated: “We determined that it would be difficult to continue working together as a member of NEWJEANS and as an artist under ADOR, and therefore notified the termination of her exclusive contract today,” adding: “We also plan to pursue legal action to determine the legal responsibility of a member of DANIELLE’s family as well as former CEO Min Heejin, whom we consider largely responsible for the current conflict, the departure of NEWJEANS, and the delay in their comeback.”
