The group THE BOYZ has filed a criminal complaint against Cha Ga Won, representative of its agency ONE HUNDRED, for suspicions of embezzlement.
According to the results of the investigation by the media SPORTS KYUNGHYANG on April 21, the legal representative of THE BOYZ recently filed a complaint against representative CHA GA WON for violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).
Previously, 9 members of THE BOYZ, with the exception of NEW, had also filed a lawsuit on February 10 against ONE HUNDRED for the cancellation of their exclusive contract. Affirming that trust has been broken because ONE HUNDRED did not properly pay financial settlements, they notified the termination of their exclusive contract to ONE HUNDRED by invoking the “non-payment of settlements, the refusal to consult settlement documents, and the violation of management obligations”.
This occurs only 1 year and 3 months after THE BOYZ signed with ONE HUNDRED, and the first hearing concerning the request for suspension of the effectiveness of the exclusive contract filed by THE BOYZ was held on the 20th.
Representative CHA GA WON is also the subject of a series of lawsuits. The Financial Crimes Investigation Unit of the SEOUL METROPOLITAN POLICE AGENCY announced on the 8th having searched the company of representative CHA GA WON last April 3 to obtain related documents. She is suspected of having proposed partnerships in the sector by highlighting the celebrities from her entertainment agency, then not having completed the projects after receiving advances. The police received three complaints against CHA GA WON and are conducting a grouped investigation. The amount of alleged damages for fraud would rise to approximately 30 billion won.
In addition to this, a wave of departures of affiliated artists follows, notably THE BOYZ, LEE MUJIN, VIVIZ, and LEE SEUNG GI. TAEMIN of SHINEE announced the end of his exclusive contract with BIG PLANET MADE at the beginning of this year, and LEE MUJIN also notified the termination of his contract on the 19th of last month by invoking a serious violation of the exclusive contract. The group VIVIZ also requested the termination of its contract during a similar period.
LEE SEUNG GI officially notified the termination of his exclusive contract on the 6th. The legal representative of LEE SEUNG GI stated: “LEE SEUNG GI notified the termination of his contract at the end of March due to a violation of the exclusive contract by BIG PLANET MADE, and consequently, the exclusive contract was legally terminated”. LEE SEUNG GI‘s camp also added that the non-payment of settlements had begun in September of last year.
CHEN, BAEKHYUN, and XIUMIN of EXO, affiliated with INB100, also sent a formal notice of termination of exclusive contract to representative CHA GA WON at the end of March, notably invoking the absence of settlements.
Representative CHA GA WON had co-founded ONE HUNDRED in 2023 with MC MONG. Since MC MONG left ONE HUNDRED, representative CHA GA WON manages the company.
