HYBE announced on May 8 that it has founded ABD, a new label specializing in the production of girl groups.

The name of HYBE‘s new label, ABD, is an abbreviation of the brand slogan “A bold dream”, and aims for a creative process with flexible and light ideas, “imaginining a D instead of a C after A and B”. The goal is to expand into new domains of K-pop based on a deep understanding of fans and artists, while pursuing the intrinsic pleasure of music.
The position of CEO is held by Ms. Roh Jiwon, who was the artist planning director at PLEDIS Entertainment. The new representative Roh Jiwon, who has accumulated label management skills at PLEDIS and MORE VISION, will oversee all management and plans to establish a stable growth base for the new label.
ABD was founded as part of HYBE‘s multi-label strategy, which strengthens the expertise and autonomy of each label. HYBE has strengthened its competitiveness in the global music market by implementing a system where each label operates independently based on its unique colors and production capabilities. ABD also plans to establish itself as a label specializing in girl groups by presenting differentiated IPs, centered on an organization and a team of creators specialized in the production of female groups.
ABD will present its first new group during the second half of this year. Han Sung Soo, Master Professional (MP), who has produced numerous K-pop artists such as SEVENTEEN, AFTERSCHOOL, IZ*ONE, and TWS, will be in charge of general production and will lead all the music, concept, and performances of the new girl group.
A representative of HYBE stated: “The foundation of ABD is a strategic move to ensure the diversity of IPs and further elevate the production capabilities of K-pop”, adding: “Through this new girl group, we will propose new musical attempts and new concepts, and we will create a fresh change in the global music market.”
