PICHEOLIN, the alter ego of DINO from the group SEVENTEEN, pre-unveiled his new release through a live video.
DINO made an appearance on July 27 on the show “ALBUM SPOTLIGHT” on the YouTube channel Dingo Music to present a medley of the best moments from PICHEOLIN‘s 1st mini-album, “吉BOARD”. By unveiling part of the included tracks live for the first time instead of a studio version, he highlighted his solid vocal skills.
The song drawing the most attention is the title track “놀아보세”. It combines an EDM trap sound with a Korean festival atmosphere to deliver an energy that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy together. Its intuitive and highly addictive chorus is memorable, and Hitchhiker, former member of the group ROLLER COASTER and creator of numerous K-pop hits, participated in the production, writing, and arrangement. A unique appeal was also added by sampling the signature sound of his hit song “$10”.
The side tracks, which reinterpret various genres in a modern way, also hold attention. Included are songs with varied charms such as “짠”, where sumptuous brass sounds blend with a hip-hop rhythm, “정말”, which contains a rhythmic tempo and a groove characteristic of new jack swing, and “정으로 사랑으로”, offering a familiar melody and a warm atmosphere.
On the final track “LIKE IT”, it is possible to find the musical color of the real DINO. Containing a sincere message that “it is by dancing for you that I finally feel alive”, this song is accompanied by “미쳐 미쳐”, pre-unveiled on the 22nd and raised to 2nd place on the “daily popular music videos” chart on YouTube in Korea, as well as “아프지 않은 이별은 없다”, endowed with a refined city pop sound.
In this album, the broad scope of DINO‘s musical abilities, juggling rap, singing, and performance, particularly stands out. He participated in writing the lyrics for all of the tracks and is also credited with composing 6 songs, with the exception of “짠”.
Furthermore, PICHEOLIN is a character created with the ambition to familiarly connect with the public’s daily life through music. In “吉BOARD”, he presents the profile of a “versatile street producer” who samples people’s stories with warm involvement to remix them into music. PICHEOLIN‘s 1st mini-album, “吉BOARD”, will be released on August 3.
