On May 4, ASTRO came back with the 7th mini album “GATEWAY” and the MV of the title song “Knock” reached 2 millions views on Youtube in 24 hours : a record for the group.
ASTRO came back as powerful artists with a mysterious MV and a catching title song. In the MV, the members are shown as time travelers who have to travel through time and different worlds by knocking on the door of a gateway. This themes is well shown when the members seem to fade and leave their own world in apocalyptic scenes. YOON SANHA, the youngest member of the group, seems to be the turning point of the MV. He is lost and is patiently waiting for the members to find him. Moreover, the traveling aspect of the MV can also be seen thanks to their beige clothes. The blue and white outfits make them look like more mature and the black and white one emphasizes their great features and their powerful side.
“Knock”‘s great melody makes the chorus catchy and we can easily recognize it thanks to the repetition of the word “knock”. The song starts in a calm tone and becomes more and more intense. The members voices also highlight the touching lyrics. The rap parts are sometimes touching and soothing, and sometimes powerful and heart breaking thanks to the vocals harmonization. The last 40 seconds represent the most exciting part of the song and creates an incredible ending.
This powerful ending is highlighted by a hard choreography. The six members said that this song’s dance is really the hardest they had to learn and practice for one of their promotions. According to them, when they practice, they always end exhausted. Indeed, the song is pretty fast and the steps are hard to put well together.
