Recently, additional information about the return of TREASURE was delivered by his agency, YG Entertainment, on its networks as well as on those of the group of twelve members. This comeback was expected by fans since it was announced earlier in the year that the boys would release three single albums for 2020. Together, these albums form a trilogy called “THE FIRST STEP“. The first chapter was released last August and marked the group’s official debut with the single “BOY” and the second was released in September with “I.L.Y (I Love You)” as the title track.
The third chapter comes out on November 6th, a date that fans of the group, the Treasure Makers, did not imagine so close. This imminent return suggests that it had been prepared for a long time and that the group intends to mark the year 2020. Also, such productivity is a real gift to fans who, for some, waited for the official debut of TREASURE for more than two years, since the end of the survival that led to the birth of the group, YG TREASURE BOX, completed in January 2019. A long wait that was worth the cost!
The above publication gives us the visual of the next album. We note first of all his great fidelity to that of the two previous single albums, also represented. On the same model, it is available in two versions, a white version with a matte cover and a black version with a holographic cover. The layout shows us the rendering of the six versions making up the “THE FIRST STEP” trilogy put end to end. In a harmonious whole, playing on the alternation of matte and holographic versions, they form the official logo of TREASURE, a diamond made up of twelve four-pointed stars, each representing a member of the group. Once the third single album is released and put into circulation on the market, fans will be able to complete the logo with the missing pieces of the puzzle which thus mark the culmination of the first cycle of TREASURE‘s career. It is a first step which ends, announcing the beginning of a next one. It has also been announced that the group plans to release a full album soon.
On the cover of the third single album “THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER THREE” is represented a lightning bolt. A flash that was already present on the first poster announcing the return of the group. The boys’ third single, “MMM” promises to be electric. A concept video was published on October 26th. Initially dressed in white, the twelve members stand in a sober and immaculate setting, perhaps a nod to their iconic “I.L.Y (I Love You)” outfits which were white student shirts. But after zooming in on HARUTO who hides the camera lens with his hand, the boys change their style. The atmosphere too, as well as their attitude and their clothes, darker. A defiant air emanates from their looks and the screen behind them projects very flashy colors. The twelve boys seem to tell us that we are not ready for what they have in store for us. But beyond the possibility that their new single will be more mature and even more powerful, the mystery remains unresolved.
Subsequently, the tracklist for the single album “THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER THREE” was released. It will contain two songs and their respective instrumental versions. The first song is “MMM“, the title song whose music video will be released on November 6th. It is notably composed by FUTURE BOUNCE who has already worked on many songs for various artists of YG Entertainment such as iKON, BLACKPINK, WINNER or members of the group BIGBANG. The group’s rappers, HYUNSUK, YOSHI and HARUTO also participated in the writing of the rap parts of the song.
We also find them in the credits of the second song of the album “Orange“: HYUNSUK and YOSHI wrote the rap parts again and HARUTO contributed to the writing of the lyrics in their entirety with another member, ASAHI. The latter happens to be the songwriter, in a duet with FUTURE BOUNCE. He is the first member to see one of his productions integrated into an album of the group and it is a great pride for the fans. Also, as ASAHI shares this passion for songwriting with other group members, such as HYUNSUK, YOSHI, JUNKYU, YEDAM and HARUTO, this is probably not the last time.
The music video for “MMM” as well as the album “THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER THREE” will be online on November 6th and the album will be released in physical version on November 13th.
