NU’EST has had a successful 2020 and is today recognized as a long-running group (They started in 2012). And they are preparing to take a new leap.
In May, NU’EST released their 8th mini album “THE NOCTURNE” and presented a powerful performance with their title track “I’m in trouble”. Despite being in their 9th year, their song was still refreshing and reflected the experience they gain with every new album. As a result, they won for the 3rd consecutive year, the “Year’s artist” award at the 2020 Fact Music Awards, held on December 12, 2020.
Meeting with The Fact on the day of the awards ceremony, BAEKHO was asked to choose the most memorable moment of the year, and he answered with certainty and without any hesitation “Our fan meeting”. He explained “Although it was held online, we were still in the same venue (as their previous fanmeeting), so it wasn’t that different. Even though it was sad we couldn’t share that space with our fans, we also have fans who live too far away to come to such events, so I think we experiences more freedom in that aspect. “.
The year has been rough due to COVID-19, and NU’EST held their online fanmeeting “LOVE PAGE” on November 28, 2020 to meet their fans online. The concept evolved around inviting fans to a high school festival, and NU’EST made a perfect transformations into students, meeting fans from 70 countries around the world.
MINHYUN said, “For both our comeback or our online fan meeting, we weren’t able to share the stage with LOVEs, and it made us feel sad and think even more about how precious our fans are to us.”. REN added “I hope we will be able to spend more time with LOVEs and many other people in the future and have fun together.”
It has been an unforgettable year, not only for the entire group, but also for each member individually. From July to September, REN performed on stage in the musical “Jamie”. He expanded his repertoire with his first musical.
REN looked back on that experience and said, ” I got so much energy and learned so much from many musical actors. When I received the script for ‘Jamie’ there were so many lines and I worried if I would be able to lead with such a big role. I’m glad it ended well. It was a chance to show different sides of myself. “.
MINHYUN added, “REN had to prepare for ‘Jamie’ while we were promoting ‘I’m in trouble’, in the practice rooms, broadcasting studios, and in waiting rooms, he was working his texts with our staff and worked hard. I was sure he would do well. He surprised me by going above my expectations, and the emotion I felt the most was pride. “. JR said, “It was a difficult character to play, but he prepared well and performed on stage. Most of all, I was happy to see REN enjoying himself.”.
MINHYUN has been playing the leading role of Go Eun Taek in the JTBC drama “LIVE ON”. The 1st episode aired on November 17th. Talking about his first acting experience, MINHYUN said, “I always try to watch the drama when it airs. Since it’s something I’ve worked on, I can’t really just enjoy it as it is. I’m glad though, because the members told me they love it. “.
BAEKHO, who took the role of producer on the team, is currently working on NU’EST‘s next album. BAEKHO said “I’m trying out a lot of different genres. I can’t really talk about specific genres now, but what I’m thinking about a lot is that we have to show the best of ourselves now, and do what people will consider favorably. The other members have been sharing ideas on what they want to do on as well. “. MINHYUN added, “We know that LOVEs are waiting, and we want to create a good album for them to listen to. We can’t say when it will be exactly, but please wait just a little longer.” .
It is certain that the fans will impatiently wait for the comeback of NU’EST, to discover their new album. In the meantime, you can discover MINHYUN in the drama “LIVE ON”. The group was also here at the “2021 NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE” concert alongside BTS, GFRIEND but also ENHYPEN.
