APINK - HONG YOOKYUNG
On February 1st, 2021, an interview video with HONG YOOKYUNG, a former member of the group APINK, broadcast on the YouTube channel “Recent Olympics” went viral.
HONG YOOKYUNG debuted as a member of APINK in 2011, but left the group in April 2013 to study, said, “Actually, I really care about APINK. The band is still so precious to me. I hope this will be a name that will be loved forever” expressing affection for APINK.
“I think this is the first time that I have mentioned the name of APINK after I have retired. I have been careful as much as possible as it can become a hot topic no matter how I talk about it. solo activities now, but I hope they continue as a band. I often watch APINK performances. I listen to all the songs and I know the choreography. I watch them alone in my room because I I’m afraid my parents will be upset if they see them” she confessed.
YOOKYUNG was asked, “Did you really leave the entertainment industry without any regrets?”. “I was really desperate, more than anyone. Plus, I was an intern the longest compared to everyone else.” She went on to explain: “For me, I was able to achieve ‘my debut’ after a lot of difficulties. So I still want to continue in it”.
YOOKYUNG also revealed that after leaving APINK, she was offered a place in various girl groups, but decided not to join any of them. She explained, “After I left the group I was recruited to be part of other girl groups but if I joined this group this group would be a major problem, I felt I would affect APINK if I had to make my debut again with another band.”
“I wanted to try to do well again, because my dream of becoming a singer was so big. However if I belonged to a band, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to work with APINK later on and that I wouldn’t even be able to do a special performance with them in the future. One of the reasons I want to succeed is because I want to support and encourage APINK 100% with sincerity. I also want to join them once I am successful.“
YOOKHYUNG suddenly left APINK in 2013, with the company stating that she wanted to focus on her studies. However, her father revealed that the company had just notified YOOKYUNG that she had been kicked out of the group and was forced to leave APINK.
After leaving APINK, YOOKHYUNG enrolled in a fashion school and continues to focus on her career in the fashion industry.
