This February 7th is a special date for the IKONICS, as the fandom prepares to celebrate the 27th birthday of the group’s eldest member, JAY!
JAY was born on the small island of Jeju, a much visited volcanic island being an unmissable seaside destination and known for the trails around the volcano.
The idol’s family consists of his parents and a sister six years his senior. The siblings seem to be close, because in one of their self-produced show « IKON-TV » members BOBBY and DK had spent the day together because both of them wanted a normal day and not to go too far from the apartment, the two men had gone to JAY‘s sister coffee shop where she proudly displayed her younger brother and his band.
JAY joined the YG ENTERTAINMENT trainees in 2011, he would have lived a few months in Philipines before returning to Korea for his trainning. This had surprised the presenter of « ARIRANG RADIO » where the idol had translated the sentence of a fan before laughing with everyone by repeating in binisaya, a Filipino dialect that he « had a stomach ache ».
Like the majority of members, JAY was discovered in 2013 in the show « Win: Who’s Next ». Even though he was one of the « losers », on September 2, 2014 during the press conference concerning the creation of the new YG ENTERTAINMENT group in another « Mix and Match » program, director YANG HYUN-SUK admitted that at least three people already had their place in the new group: B.I, BOBBY and JAY.
So he started with the group IKON as the lead singer, with the audience discovering the group in 2015 with the title « My Type ».
