ASTRO - MJ
Today, on March 5th, we celebrate MJ‘s birthday. His real name is Kim Myung Jun and he is the eldest member of ASTRO. He is known for being a performer, a singer, an actor, a model, a dancer and an MC.
MJ is the most energetic member of ASTRO and he is bubbly and wants to have fun but he always work hard to improve as an artist. He is a skilled singer with a strong voice and he can reach really high notes. Moreover, he is a great actor with a good sense of humour which leaded him to participate in various entertainment shows.
He started his career by going to JYP’s auditions when he was 18 before being casted to be one of Fantagio’s trainees to start learning about music, dancing and acting. He became a part of ITEEN project centered on Fantagio’s trainees who could be able to belong to the company’s next group. In late 2014 early 2015, MJ participated in the “Rising Star Project” and performed on Lotte World’ stage for weeks in order to find the best trainees to create the company’s new boy group.
At the same time, MJ appeared in many videos with co-trainees and showed their everyday life, when they were having fun or when they were working on projects as we can see in the cover under by YOON SANHA, MOON BIN and MJ.
Early 2015, MJ was the last member of ASTRO to be introduced to the public. He appeared in ASTRO‘s pre-debut mini web-drama “To be continued” in which he showed his great singing voice and his bright energy. He also was a part of ASTRO‘s pre debut promotions with the “Meet U Project” in which they six members were able to meet their fans in several cities in Korea.
On February 23, 2016, he debuted with ASTRO with title-song “Hide and Seek” and then made many comebacks over the years. Between 2016 and 2019, he was a guest for many entertainment TV shows and also participated in “King of Masked Singer” in 2019 as the character Driver Kim.
2020 was clearly MJ‘s year. He became more and more popular after being casted in the Korean version of the English musical “Everybody’s talking about Jamie” telling the story of a young man dreaming of being a Drag Queen. In July, August and September 2020, after several months of intense practice, MJ had the main role of the musical, Jamie, as well as two other artists, and he proved that he is a skilled and charismatic artist.
One more of his talents was seen in July 2020, when MJ was casted to belong to a trop group. The five selected artists created the group SUPER FIVE. MJ promoted with this group using his real name, Kim Myung Jun, and you can see their song’s MV under.
