TAEYONG
TAEYONG, leader of NCT 127 subunit which started in 2016, is one of the most admired and well-known artists among the K-POP community.
The artist first started on April 9th, 2016, within the first sub-unit of NCT, announced by SM ENTERTAINEMENT: NCT U. The group composed of five members: MARK, TAEYONG, TEN, JAEHYUN and DOYOUNG has debuted with the single “The 7th sense“, and lit the eyes of fans eagerly awaiting the debut of this new agency project.
TAEYONG had already captured the attention of fans, quickly becoming one of the most popular members. Indeed, his talents in rap and dance, as well as his face didn’t go unnoticed.
The member then joined NCT 127, with the song “Fire truck“, taken from the band’s first mini-album. TAEYONG turns out to be the leader, from members YUTA, TAEIL, MARK, HAECHAN, DOYOUNG and WINWIN. The concept is that the sub-unit can integrate other members, which will be the case for: JOHNNY and JUNGWOO.
The daring style of the subunit didn’t go unnoticed either, and TAEYONG as well as NCT 127 would quickly gain popularity.
The particularity of TAEYONG, is certainly the fact that he did not have to pass an audition to join the agency SM ENTERTAINMENT. Indeed, the latter was spotted by agents of the agency in question, in the street. The member also revealed this event on the “HAPPY TOGETHER” show, in which some of the members recount how they became part of the agency. For the record, TAEYONG had no idea that it was SM ENTERTAINMENT, but from one of the South Korean TV channels such as KBS, MCB and SBS, the member said he did not know the universe of agencies before that. It is in 2014 that we see TAEYONG for the first time, the artist took part in the song of RED VELVET “Be natural”, and also gave himself alongside the members SEULGI, IRENE of RED VELVET, as well as JOHNNY for The Celebrety Magazine and Oh Boy!
For this song TAEYONG was able to show his talents in terms of rap, in order to add spice to it.
The artist has a passion for dance and rap, as well as songwriting. This is why the latter left some dance videos on the group’s official channel, as well as on his Instagram account, where he is also very active for his community.
During some of the tours that NCT 127 has done around the world, TAEYONG has regularly posted freestyle in the heart of the cities he has visited. Among these cities, we had the right, for example, in Paris, when the group visited the capital. He also posted freestyle with other members including HEACHAN, YUTA, JOHNNY and JUNGWOO on the track “Oh go” from the band THE PACK.
TAEYONG also has a passion for composing music. He created a Soundcloud account, on which he regularly posts songs composed by him. We can find there titles like “GTA” in two versions, a song performed during the concerts of the group SUPERM, to which it belongs.
To date, he has posted no less than six songs, including “Monroe” featuring Baekhyun, and “Rose”, his latest composition featuring Seulgi.

The agency gave the artist the chance, long before he created his Soundcloud account, to have him perform solo, as part of the SM STATION projects. Thus, we were able to discover the voice of TAEYONG in solo, through two pieces of SM STATION: “Cure” and “Long flight”. “Cure” was released in August 2017, and “Long Flight” in July 2019, a song that perfectly matches the summer vibe, with the idea of travel.
While “Long flight” allows us to travel and refuel with good energy, “Cure” for its part makes us discover a difficult course and lets us see what it feels like to be alone. The song is performed by artist YOO YOUNG GIN, who makes us listen to his voice alongside that of TAEYONG. But “Cure” is mainly there to give us strength through his encouraging words that we can overcome anything.
TAEYONG is a cheerful person, mainly during his VLIVES, in which he shows many of his passions, and occupations, such as playing video games, and watching old clips of his band’s videos. He shows very few of his weaknesses, and we were able to discover that behind the character, hides someone strong, loving to help others and the members of his group, for whom he has a lot of love, as for the members. from his family.
The artist is also very fond of animals, and had a little dog named RUBY, who has now ascended to Heaven. He had a tremendous amount of love for RUBY, to the point of considering her as a member of his family.
