BUMJU
Singer-producer BUMZU, who made headlines for his collaboration on Jin’s (BTS) self-composed song “Super tuna,” gave an exclusive interview to a major British daily.

The Guardian, a British daily, said on February 24 (local time), “From tuna fishing to teenage love…” (referring to Jin’s song and his hobby). Through an interview article titled “Producer Behind K-Pop’s Top Stars,” he highlighted the category’s production and the process of collaborating with various artists from Hive-affiliated labels such as Seventeen and Nu’est.
The Guardian said:
“As the importance of K-pop increases, so does the importance of the creators who make it. BUMJU, a solo artist, composer and producer, has become one of the most influential people in K-pop. “
Referring to BUMJU’s career, The Guardian launched a dance challenge centered on YouTube views with the hashtag #SUPERTUNA, and pointed out that the top group in the category, Seventeen, has sold over 10 million albums in Korea and recorded four No. 1 hits on the Billboard World Album chart.
“Honestly, there’s a lot of pressure in this category. However, I don’t think I can define K-pop with just a few factors when asked about K-pop’s success factors. It’s true that this feeling makes me strong again. We just make music that touches people’s hearts”,
he said seriously.
Regarding the usual production style, BUMJU said, “We live in an era of collaboration and open communication, and no one can achieve everything or shine everything alone. I have a lot of musical staff to strengthen my expertise, and I always consult professionals from other fields and work with them”, underlined the importance of collaboration.
He said, “All bands, all artists have their own style, direction or orientation. The most important part of what we do is to find unique talents unique to the team and find the color of the artist”.

BUMJU, who has collaborated with Seventeen for a long time, said, “Woozi is a very talented artist and composer. We share ideas, talk a lot, and combine each other’s techniques appropriately,” showcasing the working process with Seventeen member and fellow producer Woozi.
At the end of the interview, BUMJU said:
“I feel like I’m on the same boat as the singers I produce. Everyone knows the importance of teamwork and tries to go in one direction. If I paddle in the opposite direction alone, I can’t navigate where “we” want to go… A small paddle can have a huge impact,”
emphasizing the heavy responsibility of the producer.
