The group KEP1ER has been praised for its ability to assimilate various genres and have been selected as a Kpop girl group to pay attention to this year, by the American Grammy.
In an article on January 5 (local time), KEP1ER was selected as one of the new Kpop girl groups (10 K-Pop Rookie Girl Groups to Watch in 2023).
Referring to Kpop girl group performances in 2022, the article introduced new girl groups, saying, “The best crop among them is the girl group that debuted last year.”
“KEP1ER is a group formed by Mnet’s Girls Planet 999 show,” Grammy said. “They are nine members from different backgrounds and nationalities, but they come together and become a complete Kpop group,” with a powerful style, but they can also assimilate a softer and more sensual style.
KEP1ER’s debut song “Wa da da” was selected as one of “50 Songs to Shine This Year” released by Apple Music and music discovery app Shazam on January 5, and has recorded over 100 million views on the music video within three months of its debut.
In addition, KEP1ER is the only Kpop artist to have won the “SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” at the “64th Japan Record Grand Prize” and the No. 1 rookie in the “Artist Sales” category at the “55th Oricon Annual Ranking 2022”.
