Earlier in 2019, producer Ahn Joon Young was put on trial for giving preferential treatment to certain contestants during the production of Mnet’s audition program “Produce 101.” In the process, he was accused of manipulating rankings and making unfair profits, and the controversy escalated as he was accused of receiving entertainment from agency officials. Ultimately, he was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 37 million won, arrested in November 2020, and released from prison in November 2021. After being released from prison, producer Ahn Joon Young was referred to the CJ ENM personnel committee and resigned.
