OH MY GIRL is back with its 9th mini-album “GOLDEN HOURGLASS“.
It was at a press showcase in Seoul, this Monday, July 24th, 2023, that the girl group OH MY GIRL, from WM Entertainment, made its comeback with its 9th mini-album “GOLDEN HOURGLASS“.
After a year and 4 months with its last mini-album “REAL LOVE“, the group is back!
This new album promises to be one of the most sparkling, as a few days earlier the agency published on the group’s social networks, six gemstones representing the six members of the group for this comeback. But before diving into this new album, the showcase begins!
A VCR is broadcasted, the MC comes on stage, introduces herself and thanks the journalists for coming, then the six members join her. A photo session of the group, then of the members takes place, accompanied by a presentation of each member.
HYOJUNG, the leader and main vocalist, is, for this comeback, represented by the “Clear Quartz“. She expresses that they are grateful for having waited for them and they hope this album will please the fans.
MIMI, main rapper, main dancer, and sub vocalist of the group is the “Amazonite”.

After “Dun Dun Dance“, “Nonstop 살짝 설렜어“, “Dolphin” and “Bunghee (Fall in Love), OH MY GIRL is back with its summer hit song “여름이 들려/ Summer comes“.
The members perform this title track, with one of the freshest performances for this summer.
The MV is then broadcast. Soft voices, a fun and colorful MV, showing the members fighting funny ghosts, zombies, clowns, killer rabbits, and monsters.
The six members then return to the stage with the MC to introduce their comeback. The album is presented with a pleasing, unique, and colorful concept, going from a refreshing energy to a dreamy and lyrical environment. This new album “GOLDEN HOURGLASS” features six new songs.

They start by talking about “여름이 들려/ Summer comes“. HYOJUNG explains that the guide for “Summer comes” was in English, and that she was scared but after listening to it, they all had the feeling that it was a music made for OH MY GIRL. YOOA also explains that she felt the colors of OH MY GIRL in this music, and both express that they are therefore glad that it is their title track.
SEUNGHEE described it as a song with strong lyrics and a fast rhythm.

“It was the first time we had such an active music video storyline, so we were worried, but it was fun to see the members’ acting.” – YUBIN
“When we were filming “여름이 들려/ Summer comes“, the zombie actors were so realistic and their acting was so good, that it was scary to dance next to them.” – MIMI

The lyrics of all the songs on “GOLDEN HOURGLASS” were co-written by MIMI.
“Celebrate” is a funky dance and pop music, with the message of wanting to continue to make our youth shine in the middle of summer.

“내 Type/ My type” has a bold and lively charm. The fusion of synthesizers and bass sounds that are both simple and powerful on urban hip-hop beats gives a captivating melody.
“Dirty laundry” combines fun lyrics and refreshing voices. It captivates the audience’s hearts with the melody of the chorus, its guitar riffs, its synthesizers, and its pop sound.
“Paradise” is of the R&B dance pop genre, and harmonizes a joyful and dreamy atmosphere through rhythmic drums, brass sounds. This song refers to how much one endures before reaching paradise and protecting what is precious. It also expresses the friendship, sincerity, and inspiration of OH MY GIRL, which blooms step by step beautiful and strong flowers.
“Miracle” (in reference to the name of their fans) is the first song to have been written by the 6 members. It was pre-released in April to celebrate the group’s 8th anniversary.
