IM HYUNSIK : Solo comeback with “DIVE INTO YOU” concert in Seoul

On Friday, October 13, 2023, Seoul’s Blue Square Master Card Hall buzzed with excitement for the kickoff of IM HYUNSIK from BTOB‘s second solo concert.

This concert was highly anticipated. The last time HYUNSIK took the stage solo was back in November 2019, following the release of his solo album « RENDEZ-VOUS ». Even without a new album this time around, eager fans flooded to secure their seats for his two-day event. In fact, when pre-sale tickets went live on September 13, they sold out within a mere minute! Due to the overwhelming demand, CUBE ENTERTAINMENT subsequently announced an additional concert date.

HYUNSIK was back on stage for his second solo concert in Seoul, and what a concert!

From the opening song « SWIMMING », it was evident this would be a night to remember. Throughout the evening, HYUNSIK delivered soul-stirring renditions of hits like « DOCKING », « 너 없인 안 된다/ Only One for me », « BLACK », coupled with six other cover performances that showcased the depth of his musical prowess.

Between songs, the artist connected deeply with his fans, MELODYs. While touching upon his most recent album and hinting at an upcoming one, HYUNSIK playfully teased the release date, expressing hopes for a launch next year. Fans, in a light-hearted spirit, humorously suggested he release it the very next day, much to HYUNSIK‘s amusement. The singer also delved into personal interests like the ocean and space, sparking a playful interaction about sea creatures and the “mermaid princess”, which later led to his playful appearance as a “merman prince.”

The concert’s theme, « DIVE INTO YOU », effortlessly blended maritime and cosmic vibes. As the backdrop shifted between ocean waves and starry constellations, fans were immersed in ambient sounds of winds, waves, and whispered marine life.

Multicolored lighting invoked both the shimmer of oceanic reflections and the brilliance of stars. The stage transformed from the mysteries of the cosmos to the intimacy of a dimly lit bar to the dazzle of a disco ball.

Throughout, entertaining deep-sea video clips kept MELODYs engaged. Amidst this spectacle, as fans’ lightsticks illuminated the venue, HYUNSIK stood at the center stage, enchanting audiences with his bass and guitar skills. Every element, from set design to promotional images, was crafted for an unforgettable immersive experience.

Concluding with « 나의 바람/ Wind and Wish », the evening witnessed not just one, but two encore performances. Thankfully for those hungry for more, HYUNSIK will grace the stage twice more this weekend.
