Today, February 28 at midnight (Korean time), ATEEZ released the music video for its Japanese SINGLE « NOT OKAY ».
ATEEZ is back with a music video for its third Japanese SINGLE named « NOT OKAY ». In this one, the members of the group, HONGJOONG, SEONGHWA, YUNHO, YEOSANG, SAN, MINGI, WOOYOUNG and JONGHO, fight against traumas which are illustrated throughout the video clip. Indeed, the video directly immerses the viewer in the atmosphere of the video clip by defining what a trauma is.
Different sequences highlight certain traumas of the members, strongly linked to the story of each member from the opus « ZERO : FEVER ». In the music video, HONGJOONG is notably absorbed by a phone screen which scrolls words such as « ALONE » or « LONELINESS ». We can also note the striking sequence of JONGHO, who is on a bed and surrounded by screens broadcasting videos of people running. This sequence refers to the events of the FEVER series, where JONGHO had to give up his passion for basketball due to an injury.
The title « NOT OKAY » illustrates a strong message that encourages people to always move forward, such as the lyrics « clench your fist and shake the world », « try again, no matter how many times », or « run like you’re aiming for the ends of the earth ». This SINGLE received a lot of positive reactions from ATINYs (name of the fandom), and especially Japanese ATINYs. Sure enough, « NOT OKAY » was premiered on February 26 on the Japanese radio station « Tokyo FM, SCHOOL OF LOCK! », which allowed ATEEZ to receive attention even before the release of its SINGLE.
Finally, ATEEZ will celebrate the release of its SINGLE « NOT OKAY » with a showcase on February 29.
