Japanese K-pop girl group ME:I, which was created through the audition of LAPONE Entertainment’s girl group “Produce 101 Japan the Girls“, a joint venture between CJ ENM and Yoshimoto Heung-up of Japan, has dominated the Japanese Oricon chart immediately after its debut.

According to Korean songwriting group “Futore”, ME:I’s partner on May 9, ME:I’s first single “MIRAI (Click/Sugar Bomb)“, released on the 23rd of last month, ranked first with 233 000 sales during the first week of sales on the Oricon chart on the 29th of the same month.
It was the first time in a year and three months that a female artist’s debut single ranked first on Oricon since fourth-generation K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM on February 6 last year.
Notably, ME:I’s latest single is a collaboration between Footo’s Kim Min Hyuk (TRACK3R), DoJEHYUN and KROWN. Among them, DoJEHYUN and KROWN are brand new lyricists.
Kim Min Hyuk, CEO of Futore, which was launched in 2022, said: “I was adopted as a collaboration partner from the early days of ME:I’s debut amidst fierce competition. I believe I I produced amazing results based on my point of view, without stereotypes.”
ME:I, which started with a K-pop group concept, meaning “Idol of the Future”, features 11 members, including KATO COCORO, SAKURAI MIU, KASAHARA MOMONA, ISHII RAN, IIDA SHIZUKU, TAKAMI AYANE, SHIMIZU KEIKO, SASAKI KOKONA, MURAKAMI RINON, YAMAMOTO SUZU, and EBIHARA TSUZUMI, all of whom are Japanese.
