XG brings girl group hip-hop back to the fore with its comeback song “Woke up.”
XG (Jurin, Chisa, Cocona, Hinata, Maya, Juria, Harvey) will release its fifth single “WOKE UP” on May 21 at midnight.
“WOKE UP“, which consists of rap throughout the song, uses the sound of Korean, Chinese and Japanese stringed instruments over an 808 bass. It is a song that contains each member’s unique rap, a strong identity hip-hop and XG’s musical color that cannot be defined by anything.
JAKOPS (SIMON), CEO and executive producer of XGALX, explains that “Woke up” contains XG’s philosophy of breaking stereotypes. XG gave new shocks with each return. Through the teaser of the music video for “Woke up“, group member COCONA showed off her shaved head.
Additionally, XG previously released a group concept photo on its official SNS, raising expectations for a comeback with a style reminiscent of seven wolves and strong visuals.
As the group attracted attention with an unconventional concept, interest in the music video, which will be released on the official YouTube channel at 6 p.m. KST today, is also increasing. Attention is focused on the kind of visuals and worldview that will surprise us again.
XG will meet Korean fans at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul on June 11 after “The first HOWL” world tour in Japan on the 25th and 26th. It will also tour Asian countries and regions such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Singapore and Taipei, as well as North America in October and Europe and other regions in November.
