STRAY KIDS: Will the fortune cake bring them luck?
STRAY KIDS, a popular group, will make its comeback after eight months.
According to the JYP Entertainment agency, STRAY KIDS will release their 9th mini-album “ATE” on July 19 at 1 p.m. STRAY KIDS‘ new album is the first since their 8th mini album “ROCKSTAR (樂-STAR)” in November last year.
The comeback trailer released the same day contained a unique material called Fortune Cookie, which predicts good luck, and a video of an advertising concept tactfully released using the album name “ATE”.
JYP Entertainment said, “The album name “ATE” contains STRAY KIDS’ joyful energy and bold ambition to break into the domestic and international music market this summer.”
STRAY KIDS represents the “god” of K-pop. Starting with their 6th mini-album “ODDINARY” in March 2022, their 7th mini-album “MAXIDENT” in October of the same year, their 3rd full album “★★★★★ 5-STAR” and “ROCKSTAR” in June last year, topped the Billboard 200 chart four consecutive times. There is a good chance that this album will also reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
They are the second K-pop group to top the chart after global supergroup BTS. BTS has topped the rankings six times in a row.
With the title track “Rockstar” and the digital single “LOSE MY BREATH Feat. Charlie Puth” in May, the album reached the Hot 100 chart twice. Much of the focus is on whether the album will chart on the Hot 100 for a third time.
STRAY KIDS will also play an active role in the summer festival market this year. It will headline three major music festivals: I-Days in Milan, Italy on July 12, BST Hyde Park in London on July 14, and Lollapalooza Chicago in Chicago on August 2.
