Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kang Jeongae thanked BTS member RM who is serving in the military. This is in response to RM 100 million won donation to the Veterans Fund in September.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs issued a letter from Minister Kang to RM on October 24. “This sharing of RM’s sincerity will be of great help to the people of national merit who have dedicated themselves to the country and to the uniformed workers who are protecting our daily lives even at this time,” Minister Kang said in the letter.
“RM’s appearance in military uniform and fulfillment of his defense obligations is a role model for many young people. I am deeply moved by the meaningful consideration of trying to create a better world based on respect and responsibility to the country and society,” she said.
“The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will also strive to ensure that the seeds of gratitude given by RM flourish in a veteran culture that respects uniformed workers. I hope that the rest of his military service will be filled with healthy and precious memories.” she added.
Earlier, RM donated 100 million won (US$83,000) to the Veterans Fund to celebrate his birthday on the 12th of last month.
“I feel the dedication of countless people to the country these days. I hope this will provide even a small amount of help to all the heroes who are dedicating themselves to the country right now, as well as the many people who have worked for peace,” RM said at the time.
The donation that RM gave to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will be donated to the Veterans Fund and used to promote respect and welfare for people of national merit, including independence activists, veterans, and uniformed workers and their bereaved families. The term “MIU” refers to soldiers, police officers, and firefighters.
RM enlisted in the military in December last year and currently serves in a military band. He will be demobilized in June next year.
